We believe Canada’s game should be for all Canadians. That’s why Scotiabank is on a mission to make hockey more diverse, more inclusive and more accessible for all. Through our sponsorships, partnerships and programs, Scotiabank is committed to realizing a better future for hockey.

Growing up, there were no transgender hockey players for Harrison Browne to look up to. That’s exactly why Scotiabank and You Can Play are proud to support LGBT+ players.

Throughout his career, Akim Aliu has experienced the racism and discrimination that exist in hockey. That’s why we’re working with the Hockey Diversity Alliance to open up the game for underserved communities and people of colour.

Scotiabank Girls HockeyFest 

To ensure access to hockey no matter their financial standing, we’re hosting free hockey clinics across Canada for young women, introducing them to inspirational role models, including Scotiabank Teammates, Cassie-Campbell Pascall and Natalie Spooner.

To create, experience and test new ideas to help make hockey more welcoming and equitable, we’re partnering with Hockey Nova Scotia on the Future of Hockey Lab.

You Can Play 

To ensure safety and inclusion in hockey for LGBT+ athletes, coaches and fans, we’ve committed $120,000 over the next 3 years to You Can Play.

Volt Hockey

To ensure access to hockey for those with disabilities, we’ve partnered with Volt Hockey league to deliver fully accessible hockey programming.

Project North

To provide young people from diverse backgrounds with the opportunity to play the game, we’re partnering with Project North to help deliver new hockey equipment to communities across Canada’s North.

To support the future of the women’s game, we’re partnering with the PWHPA to showcase the most talented players in North America, while inspiring the next generation through programs like Scotia Rising Teammates.

Hockey 4 Youth 

To enure new Canadians are give the chance to play hockey, we’ve partnered with Hocky 4 Youth to deliver free hockey skills clinics for newcomers.

Since 2006, Scotiabank Girls HockeyFest has impacted more than 17,000 young women. We are proud to partner with organizations like the PWHPA to inspire the next generation of women through the sport.

Since 2015, Hockey 4 Youth has worked with over 550+ newcomer and high priority teens across the country. Scotiabank is proud to provide new Canadians the opportunity to become socially included in their communities through hockey.
