Whether you’re locked out of your account or just want to change your password, the following steps can help.

If you can’t get into your online account, you’ll need to reset your password. Follow these steps:

To reset your password from the mobile app:

1. From the app’s sign in screen, if you’re on an iOS device, select Need help signing in? or if you’re on an Android device, select Forgot your username or password?
2. Select I forgot my password
3. Enter your username or card number
4. Select Continue
5. Answer the personal security questions
6. Select Continue
7. Create a new password that follows the requirements listed
8. Select Continue

To reset your password from your computer or laptop:

1. From the sign in page, select Need help signing in?
2. Select I forgot my password
3. Enter your username or card number
4. Select Continue
5. Follow the instructions to reset your password

If you know your online banking password and just want to change it, follow these steps:

To change your password from the mobile app:

1. Sign in to mobile banking and select More on the homepage
2. Select Privacy and security
3. Select Update your password
4. Enter your current password
5. Create a new password that follows the outlined password requirements
6. Select Update password
7. Select Finish

To change your password from your computer or laptop:

1. Sign in to your account
2. Select Manage my accounts
3. Select Security & passwords
4. Enter your current password
5. Create a new password that follows the outlined password requirements
6. Select confirm

To update your password from the mobile app:

1. On the app's sign-in screen, tap Forgot your username or password?
2. Tap I forgot my password
3. Enter your username or ScotiaCard number
4. Follow the instructions to reset your password

To update your password from your computer or laptop:

1. On the sign-in page, select Need help signing in?
2. On the next screen, select password
3. Follow the instructions to reset your password

To change your PIN, visit a branch or follow these instructions at an ABM:

1. Insert your card into the ABM
2. Enter your current PIN to access your accounts
3. From the home screen, select settings
4. Select change PIN
5. Enter your current PIN
6. Enter a new 4-digit PIN and select confirm. You’ll have to do this twice
7. If you want to continue banking, select return to main menu. If you’re done, select exit and return card

If you change your password, 2SV will not be affected. If you change your username, you will be required to deactivate 2SV.

To deactivate 2SV:

1. Go to scotiabank.com and select the Sign In button
2. Select Need help signing in?
3. Select I lost my 2-step verification (2SV) device
4. Enter your username or card number
5. Correctly answer the security questions
6. Confirm your device
