Change or reset your password

To reset your password from the mobile app:

1. From the app’s sign in screen, if you’re on an iOS device, select Need help signing in? or if you’re on an Android device, select Forgot your username or password?

2. Select I forgot my password

3. Enter your username or card number

4. Select Continue

5. Follow the instructions to reset your password

To reset your password from your web browser:

1. From the sign in page, select Need help signing in?

2. Select I forgot my password

3. Enter your username or card number

4. Select Continue

5. Follow the instructions to reset your password

To change your password from the mobile app:

1. Sign in to mobile banking and select More on the homepage

2. If you’re on an iOS device, select Sign-in and security, or if you’re on an Android device, select Privacy and security

3. Select Update your password

4. Enter your current password

5. Create a new password that follows the outlined password requirements

6. Select Update password

7. Select Finish

To change your password from your web browser:

1. Sign in to your account

2. Select Manage my accounts

3. Select Security & passwords

4. Enter your current password

5. Create a new password that follows the outlined password requirements

6. Select Confirm  

To create a new username or update an existing one:

1. Sign in to your mobile banking app

2. From the app’s home screen, select More

3. If you’re on an iOS device, select Sign-in and security, or if you’re on an Android device, select Privacy and security

4. Select Manage your username

5. Enter your new username and select Update username

To create a new username or update an existing one:

1. Sign in to online banking

2. From the accounts page, select Manage My Accounts

3. Select Security & Passwords

4. Select Create/Change Username and follow the instructions provided

If you change your password, 2SV will not be affected. If you change your username, you will be required to reset 2SV.

To reset 2SV:

1. Go to scotiabank.com and select the Sign In button
2. Select Need help signing in?
3. Select I lost my 2-step verification (2SV) device
4. Enter your username or card number
5. Correctly answer the security questions
6. Confirm your device

Next, you will need to activate 2SV again before you can continue online banking on your mobile app or untrusted device.

Biometric authentication lets you sign in to the Scotiabank app using fingerprint or face recognition instead of a password (on eligible devices).

To set up biometric authentication:

1. From the app's Home screen, tap More
2. Tap Sign-in and security
3. Tap Manage Touch ID (or fingerprint or Face ID, depending on your device) and follow the instructions

If you receive a sign-in notification on your device but you haven't tried to sign in, someone might be trying to access your account using your username and password. Tap No, it’s not me on the notification to block the sign-in attempt. We recommend that you update your password as soon as you can.

To change your PIN, visit a branch or follow these instructions at an ABM:

1. Insert your card into the ABM
2. Enter your current PIN to access your accounts
3. From the home screen, select settings
4. Select change PIN
5. Enter your current PIN
6. Enter a new 4-digit PIN and select confirm. You’ll have to do this twice

If you want to continue banking, select return to main menu. If you’re done, select exit and return card.

To see your current username:

1. From the app’s Home screen, tap More
2. Tap Sign-in and security
3. Tap Manage your username

If you forgot your username, you can retrieve it in a few steps:

1. On the sign-in page, select Forgot your username or password?
2. Select I forgot my username
3. Select your account type and enter your card or account number
4. Follow the instructions to retrieve your username

To see your current username:

1. From your Accounts page, select Manage My Accounts
2. Select Security & Passwords
3. Select Create/Change Username to see your current username

If you forgot your username, you can retrieve it in a few steps:

1. On the sign-in page, select Need help signing in?
2. Select I forgot my username
3. Select your account type and enter your card or account number
4. Follow the instructions to retrieve your username

If you’re having trouble signing in to the Scotia app with your ScotiaCard, you can try to:

• Enter your 16-digit ScotiaCard number with no spaces
• Use your username (if you’ve created one for online banking) to sign in instead of your ScotiaCard number
• Select the "eye" icon next to your password after typing it in to confirm that it has been entered correctly

If you’re signing in to a joint account, make sure you’re using your own ScotiaCard number/username and password.

If you recently got a new ScotiaCard, make sure to remove the old card number and sign in with your new ScotiaCard number.

If you’ve forgotten your username or password, select the Need help signing in? or Forgot your username or password? option on the login screen and follow the steps to recover your username or reset your password.
