Open to Canadian/Permanent Resident students and International Students 17+ who as of January 31st, 2025 are resident in Canada and enrolled in a post-secondary institution in good standing. Two (2) winners will each receive 1 prize valued at CAD$30,000 consisting of (i) $10,000 deposited into a Scotiabank Student Banking Advantage Plan, (ii) a 1-year non-redeemable GIC for $10,000, and (iii) a 2-year non-redeemable GIC for $10,000. Total value of all Prizes to be awarded is CAD$60,000. One prize will be awarded to a Canadian Citizen/Permanent Resident, and one prize will be awarded to an International Student. Odds of winning depend on total number of eligible entries received from each category of entrant. Skill-testing question required. Some conditions apply.

If you’re attending a university, community college, or another recognized post-secondary school in Canada or the United States, you can take advantage of this plan. This plan is available only for full-time students registered in a course for credit. To take advantage of the account benefits, you will need to provide proof that you are enrolled full-time at a qualifying post-secondary institution prior to November 30th. When you are no longer enrolled full-time or you have not presented proof enrollment, the plan will be removed and the account will automatically be converted to the Preferred Package with Grad Gift: monthly account fee waived for 12 months. After 12 months, the regular monthly account fees for the Preferred Package will apply.

Eligibility: you are eligible for the Preferred Package for Students and Youth (chequing account) if you are under 23 years of age or are enrolled full-time in a university, community college, or another recognized post-secondary institution in Canada or the United States. You will be required to confirm your student status by providing proof of enrollment. 

 

What happens when you’re no longer a student? When your student status expires based on Scotiabank’s records or you have failed to provide proof of enrollment confirming your full-time student status, the Student and Youth benefits will be removed and the account will be converted to the Preferred Package as of December 1st following the date of your student status expiry.

Scene+ ScotiaCard® debit card: Earn 1 Scene+ Point for every $5 on debit purchases (up to a maximum of 300 points per transaction and 600 points per day) made from an eligible Scotiabank chequing or savings account using your Scene+ ScotiaCard debit card linked to a Scene+ membership, including Interac Debit contactless  and Visa Debit transactions.  Normal Interac Debit contactless transaction limits apply. A maximum of five Premium Periods at any one time, each of which can have a length of 90 days, 180 days, 270 days, or 360 days. For each Premium Period, Premium Interest is calculated daily by applying the Premium Interest Rate to each deposit, including any accumulated Regular Interest, until the end of the Premium Period. Premium Interest is paid at the end of each Premium Period, so long as NO DEBIT TRANSACTION HAS OCCURRED within that Premium Period. When a debit transaction occurs, no Premium Interest is payable for that Premium Period and a new Premium Period of the same length will commence the same day. Refer to Current Rates Page for current Interest Rates, which are subject to change.
