Coverage overview

Staying in Canada but leaving your province or territory to study? Your current government health insurance plan may not cover the full cost of care while you’re away. That means if you get sick or hurt, you could get stuck paying part of the bill.

Our Canadian Travel Emergency Medical Single Trip Plan gives you all the coverage of our regular Emergency Medical Single Trip Plan at a 50% savings.

Every province has its own Government Health Insurance Plan (GHIP)4 which can have different maximum amounts payable for different medical services. So, if you need emergency medical attention while travelling out-of-province, you will personally have to pay any difference between what your province's GHIP covers and what the destination province charges.

You’ll find the Government of Canada’s recommendations on travel insurance here.
