How to Cancel an Interac e-Transfer Before It’s Deposited

Have you sent an Interac e-Transfer for the wrong amount, or to the wrong recipient? No worries! You can cancel an Interac e-Transfer through Scotia OnLine and the Scotia mobile app  if the recipient has not yet deposited the funds. Once you cancel the Interac e-Transfer, in most cases the funds will be returned instantly to your bank account.

If the recipient is registered for Interac e-Transfer Autodeposit, the funds will be deposited automatically into their bank account, and the Interac e-Transfer can’t be cancelled. Please reach out to the recipient to arrange for a refund.

Tip: an Interac e-Transfer can take up to 30 minutes to deposit.
