Fuel Benefit Terms and Conditions for Scotiabank Payment Cards
These terms and conditions apply to the Fuel Benefit on Fuel Purchases from Shell Canada Products (“Shell”) at participating Shell Locations in Canada and are made available to eligible Scotiabank Payment Cardholders as described below (the “Fuel Benefits Terms and Conditions” or “Terms and Conditions”).
Information regarding how Shell and Scotiabank protect and manage your personal information is set out under “Privacy” below.
Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully. A current copy of them is available at: Scotiabank.com/shell.
By linking your eligible Scotiabank Credit Card (or associated account with such credit card) or Scotiabank Debit Card, and a Scene+ membership account / card (if applicable) + with a Shell Go+ Account, you are confirming that you have received, read and agreed to these Fuel Benefit Terms and Conditions for Scotiabank Payment Cards.
Supplementary cardholders: These Fuel Benefits Terms and Conditions apply to all Scotiabank clients participating in the Fuel Benefit, including supplementary cardholders on a linked Scotiaba21nk Credit Card Account. It is the responsibility of any participating Scotiabank client who links a Scotiabank Credit Card and Scene+ membership number (account/card) (if applicable) to a Shell Go+ account to ensure that all supplementary cardholders on those linked account(s) for each Scotiabank Credit Card receives a copy of these Fuel Benefit Terms and Conditions.
+If you are a primary (borrower) or secondary (co-borrower) holder of an eligible Scotiabank Credit Card or Scotiabank Debit Card, which earns Scene+ Points, your Scene+ membership number will be shared with Shell Canada, and you consent to same.

Fuel Purchase Discounts: Receive an instant three cent per/litre discount on fuel purchases at participating Shell Locations in Canada when you use your Scotiabank Payment Card enrolled under these Fuel Benefit Terms and Conditions. This discount is referred to as the Fuel Benefit.
Total Fuel Benefit for Scotiabank Credit Card Accounts: For Scotiabank Credit Card Accounts, the total discount available as a Fuel Benefit is limited to 1,000 litres per month per account (regardless of the individual spend on each Scotiabank Credit Card associated with that account). This total limit resets at the start of each new month per account. For example, if you have a Scotiabank Credit Card Account with four Scotiabank Credit Cards (primary/ co-borrower and two supplementary cardholders) and you (primary borrower) purchased 750 litres that month, the other cardholders can purchase a maximum of another 250 litres in total (for a cumulative total of 1,000 litres on your account that month) to receive the Fuel Benefit.
Debit Cards: For Scotiabank Debit Cards, total savings are limited to 1,000 litres per month per Scotiabank Debit Card. This limit resets at the start of each new month per Scotiabank Debit Card.
To receive the three cents per litre discount on fuel purchases from Shell, you must (i) enroll to receive the Fuel Benefit via the Scotiabank Mobile app or Online Banking; (ii) link your eligible Scotiabank Credit Card or Scotiabank Debit Card to a Shell Go+ Account+; and (iii) pay for your fuel purchases in-part or in full, in-store, at the pump or via the Shell App using the linked Scotiabank Card.
Scene+ membership is not a requirement to receive the Fuel Benefit.
+If you have multiple personal or business banking payment card accounts, you may need to link your cards to more than one Shell Go+ account.
It may take up to forty-eight (48) hours to process your request to link, change, or remove a Scotiabank Payment Card to or from your Shell Go+ Account (the “Request”).
Fuel purchases made during the period before your Request is processed may not qualify for the Fuel Benefit.
Shell and Scotiabank are not responsible for Fuel Benefits not received before your Request is processed.
If you do not receive your Fuel Benefit within the 48-hour period after your Request, please contact Scotiabank using the contact details below.
By enrolling into this Fuel Benefit, you have the option to link any or all your eligible Scotiabank Debit Cards or Scotiabank Credit Cards to a Shell Go+ Account selected by you.
After you have initially linked your Scotiabank Debit Card or Scotiabank Credit Card, any replacement cards, and new eligible Scotiabank Debit Cards or Scotiabank Credit Cards that you acquire in the future (with the exception of new supplementary credit cards on a Scotiabank Credit Card Account) will be automatically linked to your Shell Go+ Account (unless you choose to opt them out).
For Scotiabank Credit Card Accounts only: As a primary credit cardholder with an eligible Scotiabank Credit Card Account, you have the option to link all or any of your supplementary cardholders on your Scotiabank Credit Card Account to your Shell Go+ account, enabling supplementary cardholders to receive the Fuel Benefit.
However, after the date you (the primary borrower) first link your Scotiabank Credit Card and associated Scotiabank Credit Card Account to a Shell Go+ account, any new supplementary credit cardholders you add in the future to your Scotiabank Credit Card Account after that will need to be manually linked to your Shell Go+ Account.
You can de-link your Scotiabank Debit Card or Scotiabank Credit Card from the Fuel Benefits at any time through the Scotiabank Mobile app or Online Banking.**
Once a de-linking request is complete, you will stop receiving the Fuel Benefits on the selected Scotiabank Payment Cards.
**As a primary borrower on a Scotiabank Credit Card Account, if you choose to de-link your Scotiabank Credit Card from the Fuel Benefits, your card and any supplementary cards on your Scotiabank Credit Card Account will no longer receive the Fuel Benefit.
Either Scotiabank or Shell may, from time to time, offer additional promotions, benefits, or other offers in addition to the Fuel Benefit (the “Additional Offers”).
The terms and conditions of any Additional Offers will be provided to you by Scotiabank or Shell, as applicable, when the Additional Offer is made. Any such Additional Offers may be changed, cancelled, or extended without notice and may not be combined with any other offer unless specified otherwise by Scotiabank or Shell in that offer.
Any Additional Offers will also be subject to these Fuel Discount Terms and Conditions (unless Scotiabank or Shell advise you otherwise).
Scotiabank will be responsible for the Additional Offers made available to you by Scotiabank and Shell will be responsible for any Additional Offers made available to you by Shell.
If your Shell Go+ account is cancelled by Shell for any reason, all Scotiabank Payment Cards linked to the unenrolled Shell Go+ account will no longer receive the Fuel Benefits under these Fuel Benefit Terms and Conditions.
To take advantage of the Fuel Benefits again, complete the enrollment process by linking your Scotiabank Payment Card to a new or active Shell Go+ account.
If you reside outside Quebec: Scotiabank may amend or cancel the Fuel Benefits Terms and Conditions or the Fuel Benefits on its Scotiabank Payment Cards at any time (with or without notice unless notice is required by law).
If you reside within Quebec: Scotiabank may change any terms and condition of this Fuel Benefits Terms and Conditions by giving you notice, at least 30 days before the effective date of the change. If you do not notify us within 30 days of the effective date of any change that you do not agree with the change and wish to close your Account (without cost or penalty), otherwise we will consider you to have accepted these Fuel Benefits Terms and Conditions, as modified.
Changes can include to:

- The amount of Fuel Benefit that can be received or how to receive the Fuel Benefit;
- The Scotiabank Payment Cards and related accounts or other transactions that can receive the Fuel Benefit;
- Locations and those participating (or not) where Fuel Purchases may be made to receive the Fuel Benefit;
- The enrolment terms and conditions to receive the Fuel Benefit;
- The addition of other products or services or other transactions that may be part of these Fuel Benefit Terms and Conditions and that may receive the Fuel Benefit or receive other types of incentives or discounts under these Fuel Benefit Terms and Conditions;
- The terms of any offers made available to you under these Fuel Benefits Terms and Conditions, including any Additional Offers;
- Any other terms and conditions that are part of these Fuel Benefits Terms and Conditions.
For all Cardholders: Scotiabank can provide notice to the primary borrower on the Scotiabank Credit Card Account (or the primary Scotiabank Debit Cardholder) and that primary borrower/primary accountholder will share that notice with any co-borrower /co-accountholder and any other cardholders on the account, or Scotiabank may provide notice electronically (including through your online banking or mobile app services with Scotiabank) or provide the notice by posting it on any website where these Fuel Benefits Terms and Conditions reside or any other means by which Scotiabank may permit and notify you of. Where a notice is sent by mail or electronically, Scotiabank will provide that notice to the last address Scotiabank has in our records for the primary borrower/primary accountholder including email or mailing address. It is your responsibility to keep your address with us up to date at all times.
If you have a Scotiabank Payment Card that earns Scene+ Points, Scotiabank will also share your Scene+ membership number** with Shell, so that it may be linked to your Shell Go+ account.
This lets you earn Scene+ Points on eligible Fuel Purchases at eligible Shell Locations in Canada in connection with your Scene+ member account, in addition to the Scene+ Points you may already earn with your Scotiabank Payment Card.
A Scene+ membership account /card may also be linked to the Shell GO+ account. By doing so, eligible Scotiabank Payment Cards linked to the Shell GO+ account (whether those Scotiabank Payment Cards earn Scene Points or not) will be able to earn and/or redeem Scene+ Points on eligible fuel purchases at eligible Shell Locations in Canada.
Note: Your Scene+ Program terms and conditions continue to apply to any Scene+ Points earned on fuel purchases. Your Scotiabank Payment Card and any Scene+ Points associated with that Scotiabank Payment Card, and your Scene+ membership account is still subject to the Scene+ Program terms and conditions. The Scene+ Program is owned and operated by a third party.
**If your Shell Go+ account is already linked to a Scene+ membership account prior to enrolling in this Fuel Benefit, no updates will be made to your Shell Go+ account.
If your Scotiabank Payment Product is a consumer (retail) or business credit card payment product, including a consumer (retail) or business credit card that earns Scene+ Points, and the Primary Cardholder has enrolled a supplementary cardholder through Scotiabank to make purchases at Shell Locations or otherwise receive the Fuel Benefit, that supplementary cardholder will be able to view the points balance and redeem Scene+ Points in the Primary Cardholder’s Scene+ Membership Account towards purchases at Shell Locations when using their supplementary card to a maximum daily redemption limit.
If you are a Primary Cardholder, you consent and agree to your supplementary cardholder(s) viewing and redeeming your Scene+ Points from your Scene+ Membership Account with such enrollment.
Shell and Scotiabank are neither agents nor affiliates of one other and neither Shell nor Scotiabank acts as an agent for the other.
Scotiabank is solely responsible for (i) each Scotiabank Payment Card (and associated accounts); (ii) the amount of the discount on the Fuel Benefits; and (iii) the account agreements that apply to your Scotiabank Payment Cards (and associated accounts) that continue to apply to your Scotiabank Payment Cards even if you are enrolled in the Fuel Benefit.
All applicable account agreement(s) with Scotiabank still apply to your Scotiabank Payment Card and the accounts associated with those cards.
Shell is solely responsible for (i) the services and benefits offered by Shell including the Fuel Benefit (other than the amount) that are provided under these Fuel Benefits Terms and Conditions for Scotiabank Payment Cards or that Shell offers or provides to you separately; (ii) the administration of the Fuel Benefit including how you can earn fuel savings on the price of Fuel Purchases: and (iii) Shell’s terms and conditions that apply to your Shell Go+ account.
Neither Shell or Scotiabank, nor their respective parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, directors, officers, employees, or agents, have any liability to you under these Fuel Benefits Terms and Conditions including for (i) your Scotiabank Payment Card not functioning or being accepted, for whatever reason, at a participating Shell location; (ii) your Shell Go+ account, linkage to that account or linkage between the Shell Go+ account and any Scotiabank Payment Card or your Scene+ membership account (iii) your Scotiabank Payment Card or Shell Go+ account being cancelled, closed or suspended, for whatever reason by Scotiabank or Shell, respectively, including under the terms of the applicable agreements that apply to each of them, or (iv) the Scene+ Program including any Scene+ Points.
Scotiabank and Shell reserve the right to make any adjustments and correct any errors pertaining to your Fuel Benefit, at any time and for any reason, including if Fuel Benefits have been erroneously received or credited or received at an incorrect, higher discount.
If you do not receive the Fuel Benefit within 90 days from the date of the fuel purchase, notify Scotiabank or Shell immediately, by contacting Scotiabank or Shell at the contact details below.

Privacy
Scotiabank may collect, use, and share your personal information from time to time for the purposes of enrolment and administration of your participation in the Fuel Benefit. Personal information may include your eligible Scotiabank payment card account number(s) and if applicable, expiry date, points balance, transaction history, and point-of-sale transaction information, as well as your Scene+ membership number* (if applicable) with Shell.
This allows you to receive an instant 3 ¢/litre savings on fuel purchases when you use your Scotiabank payment card at eligible Shell locations and earn Scene+ reward points on purchases or other ways that Scotiabank may permit in connection with your eligible Scotiabank payment card.
Please note that when your Scotiabank credit or debit card is linked to a Shell Go+ Account and as such, the owner of the Shell account will be able to see certain transaction information, such as the date, purchase amount, and location of your purchases at Shell locations in Canada.
Collection, use and disclosure of your information.
The Scotiabank Privacy Agreement forms part of these terms and conditions. For a full explanation about how, when and why we may collect, use and share your information, as well as your rights relating to that information, please visit www.Scotiabank.com/privacy or any Scotiabank branch for a paper copy. Where a Scotiabank credit or debit cardholder is younger than 14, you represent that you have parental authority or are the minor’s tutor (Quebec) or guardian, and you consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of the minor’s personal information as set out in this section.
Information we collect about you: Information that we hold about you may come from you directly; however, we may also collect information about you from other sources, including information from credit reporting agencies (for example, where you apply for credit, or where we must identify you), people appointed to act on your behalf, our social media pages, or other banks or finance-related organizations.
How we use your information: We may collect, use and exchange personal information for the following purposes: to set up, manage and offer products or services that meet your needs; to confirm your identity; to determine your eligibility or suitability for our products or services; to understand your needs; to meet our legal and regulatory requirements; to manage and assess our risks; to prevent or detect criminal activity; and to identify and correct any errors. We may also use your information to send you messages, either by post, telephone, text message, email, or other digital methods, including through ATMs, apps, and online banking services. These messages may be to help you manage your account, to meet our regulatory obligations, to inform you about product or service features or to tell you about products and services (including those of other companies) that may be of interest to you.
With whom we share your information: We will keep your information confidential, but we may share it with third parties (who also have to keep it secure and confidential) in certain circumstances, including: the Scotiabank Group of Companies† (for example, for marketing purposes or internal reporting where those companies provide services to us), payment processing services (for example, credit card networks), our service providers and their agents (for example, collection agents, statement printers), fraud prevention agencies, and other banks or finance-related organizations. Some of these third parties may be located outside Quebec or Canada.
Keeping your information: We will keep your information for as long as you are our customer. Once our relationship has ended, we will only keep your information for so long as is appropriate for the type of information, and the purpose for which we are retaining it. The period we keep your information for is linked to the amount of time available for you to bring a legal claim. We may keep the information longer than this if there an existing claim or complaint that will require us to keep your information, or for regulatory or technical reasons. If we do keep it for a longer period, we will continue to protect your information.
Your rights and how to refuse or withdraw your consent: You have certain rights over the personal information we hold about you, including the right to ask for a copy of the information, to correct or rectify personal information that we hold about you, or not to use your information for a particular purpose (i.e., withdraw consent). Note that your ability to exercise these rights will depend on a number of factors, and in some situations, and we may not be able to agree to your request. You can refuse to consent to our collection, use or disclosure of your personal information, or you may withdraw your consent to our further collection, use or disclosure of your personal information at any time by giving us reasonable notice, subject to limited exceptions. This includes withdrawing your consent to use your SIN to verify credit information or to confirm your identity. In order to receive the benefits of the Scene+ Program, Scene LP and Scotiabank may share your and any supplementary cardholder’s information between them or with Shell. For more information, including how Scene LP may collect, use or share your and any supplementary cardholder’s information in connection with your Scene+ Membership or about your privacy choices, see the Frequently Asked Questions or the full Scene+ Privacy Policy on www.sceneplus.ca or contact Scene LP at 1-866-586-2805. You agree to these terms and conditions and to the sharing of your information as described above and confirm that you have the supplementary cardholder’s consent to same.

Capitalized terms used in these Terms and Conditions have the meaning set out below:
Fuel Benefit means the discount on Fuel Purchases from Shell made at participating Shell locations in Canada using an eligible Scotiabank Payment Card, which discount is provided by Shell on the amount of the Fuel Purchase, as described in these Terms and Conditions.
Fuel Purchases means the purchase of fuel, gasoline, diesel, or other eligible fuel products at Shell at Shell locations in Canada, using a Scotiabank Payment Card, but does not include the purchase of other goods and services from Shell at participating Shell locations using a Scotiabank Payment Card, unless expressly included in these Fuel Benefit Terms and Conditions or under an Additional Offer made to you from time to time under these Fuel Benefit Terms and Conditions.

Scene+ Points means the loyalty reward points awarded and/or earned under the Scene+ Program as described under the Scene+ Program. Visit scene.ca for full terms and conditions of the Scene+ Program.
Scotiabank means The Bank of Nova Scotia.
Scotiabank Credit Card means the personal or business credit card(s) issued by Scotiabank and associated with an eligible Scotiabank credit card account (the “Scotiabank Credit Card Account”)
Scotiabank Debit Card means the personal or business debit card(s) issued and associated with an eligible Scotiabank savings, deposit, or chequing account.
Scotiabank Payment Card means either an eligible Scotiabank Credit Card or eligible Scotiabank Debit Card and collectively are referred to as “Scotiabank Payment Cards” or individually a “Scotiabank Payment Card.”

Shell Go+ Account means the account that you set up with Shell, which is subject to the terms and conditions established by Shell.
Shell Locations means Shell-branded automotive fuel stations and locations in Canada that are participating in the Fuel Benefits (excluding Shell Flying J-branded locations). A current list of the Shell Locations is available at: https://www.shell.ca/en_ca/motorists/shell-station-locator.html.
You or your refers (unless expressly indicated otherwise) to the primary borrower or co-borrower with a Scotiabank Credit Card on a Scotiabank Credit Card Account or the holder of a Scotiabank Debit Card (also referred to as an “accountholder”).
Any other definitions used but not defined above will have the meaning assigned to them elsewhere in these Terms and Conditions.
