Aboriginal Community Initiatives

Demonstrating our commitment to your community

We’re proud to support Aboriginal communities through memberships, special programs and exceptional sponsorships.

We want Aboriginal communities to become fully involved in Canada’s economy and we’re dedicated to helping make that happen. That’s why Scotiabank is a proud member of the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business. We’re one of the few businesses that have achieved the Gold level for Progressive Aboriginal Relations.

AFOA helps “Aboriginal people better manage and govern their communities and organizations through a focus on enhancing finance and management practices and skills. The only organization in Canada that focuses on the capacity development and day-to-day needs of those Aboriginal professionals who are working in all areas of finance, management, band administration, leadership and program management."

Cando provides “training, education and networking opportunities necessary to serve their communities and/or organizations as professionals. Cando has been instrumental in facilitating partnerships with EDOs, academics, Aboriginal leaders and senior corporate and government representatives. Cando is unique because it is the only national organization that focuses on education and professional development for EDOs working in Aboriginal communities or organizations.”
