Scotiabank Virtual Appointment Service Terms of Use
The Bank of Nova Scotia and Scotia Securities Inc. (together, “Scotiabank”) is offering this video service as an accommodation to banking and investment clients subject to these terms of use. Any individual who utilizes Scotiabank’s Virtual Appointment Service platform (each a “User”, or “you”) hereby agrees to the following terms of use, and a User’s use of the Virtual Appointment Service platform (the “Platform”), shall be deemed acceptance of the following terms:
- Users expressly consent to the collection of their personal information, which may include: audio and video recordings of your session; identification verification information; transactional and account-related information disclosed during the session; metadata, such as IP address, device type, and session duration. This information may be collected to verify your identity, provide banking and/or investment services and support, ensuring security and fraud prevention, and to meet our legal and regulatory obligations. Safeguards that are designed to protect your personal information, including end-to-end encryption and authentication protocols, are applied to all Sessions.
- Users understand and agree that the Session (audio and video) may be recorded for quality assurance, training or research purposes. By using the Platform, each User agrees to allow the use of audio and/or video conferencing, streaming technology or screen sharing to interact with Scotiabank team members. If you do not wish to have your video transmitted or recorded during the meeting, you must disable your camera and refrain from enabling any video functionality for the duration of the meeting.
- Users shall only access the Platform from a secure internet connection in a location where their privacy will be protected and shall not leave the device unattended. Any email address a User provides will be for that User’s secure account and cannot be accessed by others. Users shall log off the Platform immediately at the end of each Session.
- Users may only utilize the Platform if they are a legal owner or authorized power of attorney of the Scotiabank account(s) that are the subject of a particular video or audio session (each a “Session”). All information provided to Scotiabank during a Session shall be accurate, current and complete. If multiple parties are involved in a transaction, Scotiabank may require the presence of all relevant parties.
- Users understand and agree that they are legally authorized to provide any personal information, including images, that they disclose through the Platform, whether such information pertains to the User or to another individual. Where a User discloses personal information about another individual, that User confirms that they have obtained all necessary consents from that individual to provide such information to Scotiabank for the purposes of utilizing the Platform, including recording, storage, or processing of such information.
- Users agree that they will not interfere with or disrupt any computer network connection to the Platform and shall not use or attempt to use the Platform in a manner to gain unauthorized entry or access to the computer systems of others, including Scotiabank systems.
- Users shall not use the Platform while driving a motor vehicle of any kind or operating heavy machinery, and Users understand that all risks, injury and harm associated with doing so while using the Platform are not the responsibility of Scotiabank.
- Users will act and engage with Scotiabank team members in a manner that is professional and courteous while using the Platform. Users must also dress in a manner appropriate for entering a Scotiabank branch. Users shall not use language or gestures that are intended to harm, threaten, demean, or that could otherwise be deemed to be inappropriate or abusive.
- Users understand that not all account types or information will be available through this platform, and it is not intended to replace existing methods of access or contact at Scotiabank.
- Any User who fails to abide by or comply with any of these terms and conditions is subject to the immediate termination of the Session and may be banned from use of the Platform, a restriction of Scotiabank services, or any other action available to Scotiabank at law.
- In the event a User fails to abide by the foregoing terms and conditions as updated or changed by Scotiabank in the future (or fails to comply with any applicable law, regulation or directive), Scotiabank shall not be liable for any resulting loss, claim or damage to the extent permitted by law. Users shall indemnify Scotiabank and hold it harmless should Scotiabank incur any costs or sustain any damages should a User not satisfy these terms and conditions.
