      Since you will use your existing Scotia OnLine sign in credentials this eliminates the need for you to create a new username and password when signing in to government services websites.

      Scotia OnLine customers can use their Scotia OnLine sign-in credentials to access government services websites.

    3. Is Scotiabank the only bank offering this service?

      No. Other Canadian Financial Institutions are also offering this service.

    4. Why is Scotiabank offering this service?

      ScotiaBank is always looking to improve how we serve our customers. Using your ScotiaCard number and Scotia OnLine password is a convenient way to sign in to government sites, and saves you the trouble of having to create a new username and password.

    5. How is my information protected?

      No government service receives information about which bank you are using; similarly, the bank receives no information about which government service you are accessing.

      The only information Scotiabank supplies is a randomly generated number that is created the first time you sign in using the service. That number is then returned each subsequent time you sign in using the service. No personally identifying information or banking details are ever shared.

    6. What if my ScotiaCard and online password are stolen or compromised?

      At Scotiabank, we're committed to keeping your accounts and financial information safe and secure, from the moment you sign on to Scotia OnLine to the time you sign out. As part of this commitment, we have instituted a number of security measures to help ensure the integrity of your transactions and your account information.

      To ensure you are protected, you must do your part too. That means it is your responsibility to abide by the terms of our customer agreements and follow the guidelines in the Safe Computing Practices section of Scotiabank's website. Be sure to keep your ScotiaCard number and Scotia OnLine password safe and secure so no one can obtain it.

      If you provided personal information as a result of an email you received, or through a website or unsolicited pop-up window that claims affiliation with Scotiabank and you think you may be a victim of online fraud, or if you suspect your ScotiaCard number and/or Scotia OnLine password have been compromised in any way:

      If you did not provide any personal information but encountered a fraudulent email or website that claims affiliation with Scotiabank, please forward the fraudulent email or information

      Please don't change or retype the subject line, as this hinders our ability to properly investigate the email. After forwarding the email, you should delete it from your inbox. We will send you an automated response.

    7. Can I change which bank I use to sign in to government services?

      Yes. To change which banking credentials you use to sign in:

      1. Click the "Sign In" link on the Credential Selection page
      2. Click the "Switch My Sign-in Partner" link located on the upper right-hand side of the page and follow the on-screen instructions.

      Please note: some government services require you to re-enroll when you use a new Sign-in Partner.

    8. Can I use the service if I am not registered with Scotia OnLine?

      No. You must be a registered Scotia OnLine customer before you can sign in to government services sites using your ScotiaCard number and Scotia OnLine password.

    9. Who do I contact if I'm having trouble signing in?

      If you have lost your ScotiaCard, or you have forgotten your password or the answers to your Scotia OnLine security questions, please call Scotia OnLine Assistance at 1-800-4SCOTIA (1-800-472-6842). Scotia OnLine Assistance is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

      If you are having trouble with the Government Sign-In by Verified.Me page (e.g., the link does not forward you to Scotia OnLine sign-in page; the page is not displaying correctly, etc.), please call the Government Sign-In by Verified.Me help desk at 1-855-433-5397 (toll free).

      If you see any error messages on a government services website or are unable to find information, please refer to the Help or contact information for that government service.

    10. How do I use Government Sign-In by Verified.Me to sign in to government services websites?

      When visiting a government services website that offers Government Sign-In by Verified.Me, you will see the option to sign in with Scotiabank using your Scotia OnLine credentials. To sign in to a government services website using your Scotia OnLine credentials:

      1. Select "Scotiabank" on the Select a Sign-In Partner page. You will be redirected to the Scotia OnLine sign-in page.
      2. Enter the ScotiaCard number and password you use to sign in to Scotia OnLine and click the "Sign In" button. You will be returned to the government services website and you will be signed in.
