The chip securely stores information such as your account number and Personal Identification Number (PIN).

ScotiaCard Chip Card Technology

Your ScotiaCard has an embedded computer chip that provides increased protection against lost, stolen or counterfeit card fraud. Chip cards are a proven technology that's already in use around the world. Your chipScotiaCard now has an expiry date and will be re-issued on a regular basis, like a credit card.

Flash* & Go Technology
Just look for this symbol  or the Interac Flash or Visa payWave logo at the checkout in participating stores, flash your card over the card reader and pay!

No inserting or entering your PIN for purchases under $50 and $100 at select locations at participating merchants and your purchase is automatically deducted from your bank or credit card account.

Your card is protected by chip technology, one of the most secure payment solutions available. And as always, you're protected against unauthorized card usage by Visa's Zero Liability Policy.

Visa's Zero Liability Policy also protects Scotiabank VISA cards with Visa payWave against unauthorized card usage.

Interac Flash purchases will be debited from your pre-selected chequing account linked to your card. If the purchase is above $50, the terminal will instruct you to insert the card and enter a PIN, like a regular chip transaction. Interac Flash transaction limit is $50 at most retailers accepting the Interac Flash debit card and $100 at the gas station.

Merchants set their own limits for the maximum value of a Visa payWave transaction that does not require a signature or PIN.
