Appointed in November, 2018, Paul provides strategic direction, leadership and oversight of the Audit Function globally. The mandate of the Audit function is to provide enterprise-wide independent, objective assurance over the design and operating effectiveness of Scotiabank’s internal controls, risk management and governance processes.

Paul joined Scotiabank in 2000 and has served in increasingly senior roles at the Bank including Global Banking and Markets Operations, CFO of the International Bank, and most recently the Bank’s Chief Auditor. Prior to joining Scotiabank, he worked at KPMG specializing in auditing the results of mining and financial services corporations in South Africa and Canada.

Paul is a Chartered Accountant from the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa, and holds a Canadian Chartered Professional Accountant designation as well.

Paul and his wife, Vicki, have one son.
