• Mexico: Remittances rebound on higher transfer amounts despite fewer transactions

In March, remittance inflows reached a total of USD 5.394 billion, posting annual growth of 4.9%, the strongest level since November 2024, as well as a 1.2% monthly increase in seasonally adjusted terms. This performance was driven by an 8.9% year-over-year rise in the average amount per transfer (USD 417), despite a 3.6% decline in the number of transactions (12.9 million). As a result, remittances have posted two consecutive months of gains. In the first quarter of 2026, remittances totaled USD 14.457 billion, an annual increase of 1.4%, the best performance since 2023. This dynamic points to a recovery supported by higher amounts per transaction, although the lower number of transfers could limit support to consumption going forward.
