Overview

As a co-op or intern in our Investment Banking group within Global Banking and Markets (GBM), this dynamic, hands-on experience will introduce you to the fascinating world of Investment Banking. You’ll be exposed to a wide range of areas - debt and equity financings, mergers and acquisitions, and financial advisory, offering undergraduate and MBA students the for real-world experience. You start by building your knowledge and skills through assignments such as preparing client presentations, financial analysis, and industry research, and will experience it all through rotations in Investment Banking, Mergers and Acquisitions, and Equity Capital Markets.

  • You're currently completing your undergraduate or graduate degree in business/commerce or Science, Technology, Engineering, Math (STEM)

  • You’re part of a formal co-op program, or want to arrange your own (like an internship)

  •  You want to build your experience, skills, and expertise in the financial markets and thrive in a high-pressure environment

  • You want to be challenged with hands-on work experience that encourages you to contribute 

  • You have a clearly defined interest in Investment Banking and/or Mergers and Acquisitions

  • You have a proven track record of outstanding achievement in academic and extracurricular activities

  • You possess strong quantitative skills focused on financial analysis, accounting, and financial theory

  • What to Expect

    During your term, you’ll evaluate and analyze the financial needs of corporate clients, including developing financial models. You’ll learn by supporting transaction structuring and execution efforts, including financial and written analysis of companies and industries, developing valuation models, pro forma financial statements, and comparable company analysis. You’ll also help with preparing client presentations.

    As an Investment Banking intern or co-op student, you’ll take part in a bank-wide orientation, as well as a GBM orientation, to learn more about Scotiabank and GBM and gain exposure to senior leadership across the organization. There’s a huge social component during your time with us. Evenings out, lunch & learns, and internal career fairs are all part of it.
