Liz

Director, Global Head of Trade Floor Supervision

"Before I had children, I was anxious about how having a child would impact my career and the way I was perceived as a working mother. At Scotiabank, I was promoted to Director when I was 8 months pregnant with my first daughter and then named Head of U.S. Trade Floor Supervision immediately upon returning from my second maternity leave. I think my experience highlights how Scotiabank is supportive of women and mothers in the workplace."

Santiago

Regulatory Onboarding Analyst

"As soon as one joins the bank, they are greeted with a supporting community that wants to see each other grow and improve every single day. Everyone on the team is always prepared to set their work aside and help one another. There have also been many instances where experienced colleagues have come to me for advice or help. When they do, it makes me feel heard and appreciated as a valuable member of the team."

Sarah

Managing Director, Corporate Banking

"Scotiabank provides a strong platform for growth fueled by the energy each team member brings to work everyday. The firm has created an environment where diversity of thought and experience are encouraged and celebrated, and leadership go above and beyond to make sure all employees feel safe to share ideas or highlight concerns. It is incredibly inspiring."

Global expertise, delivered locally

Whether you are excited by working on or off the desk, you’ll find exceptional career opportunities here.

Global Capital Markets

We provide capital markets solutions to corporate clients and maintain a complementary institutional franchise. Our experienced and specialized teams deliver full-service product offerings across fixed income, currencies, and commodities. We leverage our global footprint to create lasting partnerships while tailoring the Bank’s strengths to serve clients’ needs.

Equity Capital Markets (ECM)

From IPOs to common equity, to private placements, the ECM team creatively structures deals and helps corporate clients raise capital. We leverage Scotiabank’s global distribution capabilities to provide issuers with access to both institutional and retail channels.

Debt Capital Markets (DCM)

Scotiabank’s DCM business is a focal area for the Bank’s growth plan. It includes origination, sales, and trading. The Syndicate seat interacts closely with many sides of the business which allows for extensive networking and in turn, exposure to the business, high visibility with clients, and development of different skill sets.

Corporate Banking

We structure and negotiate customized lending solutions for large corporations, institutional, and government clients. In addition to standard industry coverage, more specialized groups include real estate finance, asset-based lending, and project finance. You can expect to have ownership of your career starting from day one.

Investment Banking

As critical financial intermediaries, our Investment Bankers help corporations and governments evaluate financial and strategic alternatives, match buyers and sellers, and act as financial advisors to help clients raise funds, acquire, or sell companies. We strive to understand our clients' strategic goals and present relevant ideas and advice on how they can achieve them.

Internal Control

The Internal Control team assists the front office in managing non-financial risks. We are continuously evolving to support the business as their offerings change and in response to the regulatory environment. Because there is extensive engagement with different functions, time in Internal Control opens up a variety of career paths including front office business lines, Compliance, and Risk Management.

Compliance

As the second line of defense, we are responsible for independent oversight, advice, and objective challenge of Compliance risk management. Compliance is organized by geography, business, and central programs, giving you opportunities for growth and exposure to many partners throughout the Bank.

Internal Audit

We serve as the Bank’s third line of defense by providing independent, objective assurance and challenge of the Bank’s internal control, risk management, and governance process. We also identify existing and emerging risks to provide insight, foresight, themes, and trends. With exemplary processes, standards, and structure, we are proud to be recognized as leaders in our industry.

Risk Management

We ensure that the outcomes of risk-taking activities are consistent with the Bank’s strategies and risk appetite, and that there is an appropriate balance between risk and reward. We value different perspectives as our role is to provide independent yet collaborative review and challenge to the business.

Treasury and Finance

The Treasury team is responsible for local and All Bank funding, local liquidity reporting and analytics, balance sheet management, local interest rate analysis, and strategic development. The Finance team manages the reliable and timely reporting of financial information to management, regulators, and other stakeholders by partnering with each of GBM’s businesses to understand strategy, measure profitability, and provide insights.

Global Wholesale Operations (GWO)

The U.S. GWO team is responsible for supporting front line operational processes including onboarding, middle office, payments, settlements and clearing, trade finance, and operational control. We are a highly collaborative group who focus on process improvement, efficient data management, and developing our team.

Corporate Functions

Whether you are passionate about Communications, Human Resources, Legal, or Administration, your expertise enables our business lines to succeed. Our teams work closely with the business and global partners to deliver exceptional support, leading to a stronger Bank as a whole.
