The future of finance is waiting for you to help shape it
If you are pursuing a career in finance, it’s not just about breaking barriers, it’s about building bridges. In Canada, women in Corporate and Investment Banking at Scotiabank are doing just that, with mentorship and sponsorship programs, as well as flexible benefits, you’ll be surrounded by a team of incredible leaders that will do more than just inspire you, they’ll help you elevate your goals and your career.
We are advocates for your success
Scotiabank offers a mentorship and sponsorship program designed to help employees build critical relationships within the Bank. These opportunities enable them to learn from seasoned professionals who coach, mentor and advocate for their success. Propel is a six-month sponsorship program that pairs protégés with a sponsor and mentor to help them unlock key skills and capabilities to bolster confidence and help them pursue higher profile roles.
I am grateful I got the opportunity to participate in our PROPEL program to support on my career journey. Beyond expanding my network and offering valuable training, the personalized sponsorship and mentorship equipped me with the tools to confidently tackle new responsibilities following my promotion. I found that openness in communication was crucial to fully leveraging this experience, allowing me to truly engage and integrate learnings into my daily work and career aspirations. – Alexane, Propel Program participant
Flexibility that adapts to every stage of life
Recognizing that a “one-size-fits-all” approach no longer meets the needs or expectations of today’s workforce, we have built a suite of flexible benefits and policies to help employees balance their professional aspirations with personal commitments outside of work.
Paid maternity and parental leave: Scotiabank is setting a new global standard for parental leave with eight paid weeks for all parents (of any gender) with a new child, and eight additional paid weeks for parents who have given birth.
Flexible health benefits: Whether it’s backup daycare services or flexible dollars to purchase groceries, working parents can customize benefits based on their family’s health, dental, vision and wellbeing needs.
Elder care resources: Recognizing that many employees are part of the “sandwich generation,” Scotiabank offers support for Canadian employees caring for aging parents. Employees can also use their Wellbeing Account to help loved ones who are financially dependent on them. Eligible expenses include mental health services and adult care including retirement home costs, meal delivery, and nursing home expenses.
Mental health: All employees eligible for the Canadian Benefits Plan have access to comprehensive wellbeing services including clinical counsellors, psychotherapists, marriage therapists, social workers and psychologists. Employees also have access to the Employee and Family Assistance Program which includes counselling and work-life services such as financial, legal, child and elder care support.
It’s a rewarding experience to contribute to shaping our benefits offerings to uplift and empower women in the workplace. It’s not just about fairness, it’s about creating a culture where everyone has the opportunity to succeed. Jessica - Manager, Benefits
