The Wellbeing Account allows Scotiabank employees to use unused flex dollars to improve their physical, financial, mental, and social wellbeing. Expense categories covered by the Wellbeing Account include but are not limited to:

  • Membership and classes: health club memberships and fitness programs.
  • Fitness and sports equipment: home fitness equipment, athletic apparel, and footwear.
  • Healthcare support and services: Nutritional services, first aid and CPR training, maternity services.
  • Extended family care support: child day care centre, childcare expenses (e.g. diapers, car seat, baby monitor etc.), Mental health services for extended family members, children’s camps, and expenses related to tutoring.
  • Insurance expenses: home, car, and pet insurance.
  • Home office equipment: printers, monitors, office chair and desk.
  • Grocery and food delivery: meal delivery, groceries, and related delivery fees.
  • Indigenous wellbeing support: expenses for Indigenous ceremonies and spiritual activities, Indigenous language learning opportunities and more.

All employees eligible for the Canadian Benefits Plan have access to comprehensive Mental Wellbeing Services, including clinical counsellors, family therapists, internet-based cognitive behavioural therapy, marriage counsellors, Master of Social Work, psychologists and psychotherapists. Family Support

At Scotiabank, we give you the flexibility to tailor your benefits to your needs. As a Scotiabank employee, you have the autonomy to allocate your benefits according to your personal priorities, putting you in control of how you utilize them.

  • Immediate family members and dependents: Don’t forget that your mental health benefit is per eligible dependent, so this can also be used for your spouse and dependents if they are covered under the Canadian Benefits Plan, and eligible dependents also have access to our Employee Family Assistance Program (EFAP). You can also support your immediate family by applying funds from your Wellbeing Account towards childcare, back-up daycare, tutoring, and much more.
  • Extended family members: You can use your Wellbeing Account to pay for eligible expenses for loved ones who are financially dependent on you. Eligible expenses include mental health services and adult care – e.g., retirement home, meal delivery, and home nursing.
