ONE-TIME SCENE POINT BONUS FOR OBTAINING A SCENE®* ScotiaCard® (the "Offer")

Offer Terms and Conditions

DEFINITIONS

"Customer" means an individual who, during the Offer Period, opens a new SCENE eligible bank account and obtains a SCENE ScotiaCard debit card for that account.

"Offer Period" is defined in Section A.

"SCENE eligible bank account" means an "Eligible Account", other than Basic Banking Account, under the SCENE Terms.

"SCENE Terms" means the SCENE ScotiaCard Terms and Conditions located at scene.ca.

"Scotiabank" means The Bank of Nova Scotia.

  1. DESCRIPTION OF THE OFFER

    This Offer by Scotiabank begins on June 16, 2014 at 12:00:01 a.m. ET and ends on September 30, 2014 at 11:59:59 p.m. ET (the “Offer Period”).

    The Offer is comprised of the following opportunities to earn a maximum of 5,000 SCENE points through a combination of Section 1, Section 2 and Section 3 below during the Offer Period:

    1. First Debit POS Transaction

      1,000 SCENE points will be awarded to a Customer’s SCENE membership account following completion of the customer’s first debit card Point of Sale (POS) transaction of over $5.00, made within 60 days of opening a new SCENE eligible bank account. Should the Customer not already have a SCENE membership, one will be created at the time of opening the SCENE eligible bank account.

      In the event of a return and/or exchange of any purchase for which SCENE points were allocated under this Section 1, SCENE points will be deducted automatically from the Customer's SCENE membership account. The SCENE points balance will be reduced by the equivalent number of SCENE points issued for the returned or exchanged items on the original debit POS transaction.

    2. Payroll Deposit, PAD/PAC

      A maximum of 3,000 SCENE points will be added to a Customer’s SCENE membership account for setting up automatic payroll deposit or 2 pre-authorized credits (PACs), 2 pre-authorized debits (PADs) or 1 PAC and PAD. The points will be awarded only if the PAC/PAD is set-up within 60 days of account opening.

      (All pre-authorized transactions must occur within the same month).

    3. Email Validation

      Customer will receive an additional 1,000 SCENE points for completing a debit POS transaction in accordance with Section 1 and providing and validating an email address in one of the following ways:
      1. For Customers who were not SCENE members prior to opening the SCENE eligible bank account: Providing a valid email address to Scotiabank when opening the SCENE eligible bank account and validating it by clicking an email validation link within a SCENE Welcome Email from Scotiabank. This SCENE Welcome Email will arrive 24 hours after account opening. The validation must occur within 60 days of the Customer’s first debit POS transaction under Section 1.
      2. For Customers who were SCENE members prior to opening the SCENE eligible bank account: Linking the existing SCENE membership to the SCENE eligible bank account by (1) providing the SCENE membership number at the time of SCENE ScotiaCard issuance and (2) following the prompts in the email notification in order to validate or update the Customer’s existing email address in the SCENE membership contact information. The email notification will be sent by Scotiabank after the Customer’s first debit POS transaction was made under Section 1. Email validation must be completed within 60 days of receiving the email notification.
  2. ELIGIBILITY

    The Offer is available to any Customer who is a Canadian resident, a SCENE member, and, prior to the Offer Period, was not the holder or joint holder of any SCENE eligible bank account. Up to February 28, 2014, a Customer’s SCENE membership must not be “inactive”, as defined in the SCENE Terms, and the new SCENE eligible bank account must remain open and in good standing. For the purposes of these Offer Terms and Conditions, a SCENE eligible bank account is not in “good standing” if (i) it has a negative balance exceeding the authorized overdraft limit, (ii) it is closed to service charges, or (iii) it has an unauthorized overdraft written off status. If, on or before February 28, 2014, a Customer’s SCENE membership becomes inactive or the Customer’s SCENE eligible bank account is not in good standing, SCENE points will be deducted automatically from the Customer's SCENE membership account. The SCENE points balance will be reduced by the equivalent number of SCENE points originally issued under this Offer.

    In order to receive the SCENE points as described above, the Customer must consent to receive marketing emails from Scotiabank throughout the Offer Period.

    The Offer does not apply to individuals who held a SCENE eligible bank account prior to the Offer Period and switched their existing ScotiaCard to a SCENE ScotiaCard. This Offer does not apply to other ScotiaCard card-types or the SCENE VISA card.

  3. SCENE POINTS

    The SCENE points awarded under this Offer are not transferable or convertible to cash and must be accepted as awarded. Scotiabank reserves the right to substitute earned SCENE points with an award of equal or greater value. Redemption of SCENE points awarded through the Offer will be subject to the SCENE Terms.

  4. FULFILLMENT

    A maximum of 5,000 SCENE points may be awarded (i) to a Customer’s SCENE membership and (ii) in connection with any SCENE eligible bank account with a SCENE ScotiaCard as per the terms and conditions of Summer Campaign. SCENE points earned by a Customer in connection with a joint SCENE eligible bank account will be divided equally between all Customers who are joint holders of that account. Limit of one (1) SCENE eligible bank account connected to each SCENE membership for the purposes of this Offer.

    The 1,000 SCENE points earned under Section 1 (first debit POS transaction), will be credited to the appropriate SCENE membership account in one installment within 2-3 business days of the qualifying debit POS transaction occurring.

    The 3,000 SCENE points earned under Section 2 (PAD/PAC) will be credited to the appropriate SCENE membership account in two installments. The first installment of 1,000 SCENE points will be awarded within 2-3 business days. The second installment of 2,000 points will be credited at the end of the month in which the PAD/PAC was set-up.

    The additional 1,000 SCENE points earned under Section 3 (email validation) for providing and/or validating your email address within 60 days of making your first debit POS transaction will be credited to the appropriate SCENE membership account in one installment.

  5. GENERAL

    SCENE LP is not involved in the administration of this Offer.

    Except as otherwise described in these Offer Terms and Conditions, all provisions of the SCENE Terms, including the SCENE Privacy Policy located at scene.ca, as well as the Scotiabank Group Privacy Agreement located at scotiabank.com, will continue to apply to Customers who participate in this Offer.

    By participating in this offer, Customers agree to these Offer Terms and Conditions. This Offer is subject to all applicable laws. The decisions of Scotiabank with respect to all aspects of the Offer are final and binding on all Customers.

    Scotiabank reserves the right to withdraw or amend this Offer at any time in the event of an error, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, or any other cause beyond the reasonable control of Scotiabank.
