Business Banking Account Terms and Conditions
For legal purposes, documents sent to you electronically are considered to be “in writing” and to have been signed and/ or delivered by us. We may rely upon and treat them as duly authorized and binding on you and treat them as any electronically authenticated document that we receive from you or which appears to have been sent by you. Further, you, meaning (as applicable) the owner, officer, director, or partner of the business, or in your personal capacity as guarantor or co-signor (or co-borrower), agree that as part of your application for banking accounts (as described in this application) (the “Business Products”), you agree and acknowledge that by selecting “Agree” below:
- Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation (CDIC) is a federal Crown corporation that protects your deposits at financial institutions that are CDIC members. Coverage is free and automatic — you don’t have to sign up. CDIC encourages you to learn about CDIC protection by reviewing the CDIC brochure available on the CDIC website.
- You certify (on your behalf, or as an authorized representative of the customer) that the information you have provided/confirmed regarding your U.S. or other foreign tax jurisdiction and Tax Information Number (TIN) is correct and complete and that you undertake to advise Scotiabank immediately of any change in circumstance that causes the information provided to be incorrect and to provide an updated tax residency self-certification within 30 days. Failure to provide an updated tax residency self-certification and TIN(s) when required may result in your incurring regulatory fines, either directly or indirectly, and may also result in the closure of your accounts.
You confirm that you have the consent of the individual(s) listed as Controlling Persons (if any) to collect and share their personal information with Scotiabank for the purposes of the administration or enforcement of the Income Tax Act and related programs and activities such as administering tax, benefits, audit, compliance, and collection.
