Our equity investments range between $5 million and $25 million and represent a minority ownership.

Based in Toronto, our experienced investment professionals manage various private equity investments and alternative assets, including LBO funds.
Our team has a wealth of experience in a variety of backgrounds: corporate finance, merchant banking, venture capital and operations.
Our team promptly responds to new business opportunities across a wide range of industries. By working closely with company management and other private equity co-investors we can tailor and execute suitable financing structures that supports the company's growth and value-creation strategies.
Peter has over 25 years of experience in private equity, mezzanine, corporate finance and structured lending in Canada, the U.S. and Europe. He’s served on a number of corporate boards of private and public companies and advisory committees of investment funds.
Before bringing his expertise to Scotiabank, Peter worked with Manulife Capital. There he focused on private equity and mezzanine investments in North America. Prior to that he worked with Royal Bank Capital Partners where he concentrated on mergers, acquisitions, management buyouts and growth financing of Canadian mid-market companies.
Previously, he was with the Multinational Lending Group at Royal Bank of Canada, working on complex corporate transactions. Peter's structured lending experience includes a number of global financing, infrastructure projects and public-private partnerships.
Peter received his Law degree from the University of JEP in Brno, Czech Republic. He also earned an MBA from the University of New Brunswick and obtained the ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors.
Thomas joined Scotiabank Private Equity team in 2006. Previously, he worked at Roynat Capital Inc. where he focused on sub-debt/mezzanine investments in growing mid-market companies across Ontario.
Before Roynat, Thomas served as an Investment Analyst at a Canadian-based merchant bank. There, he prepared company and industry analysis, developed financial models and assisted in due diligence on investee companies. Thomas has also worked at a Toronto-based corporate finance boutique.
Thomas earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the Schulich School of Business at York University.

Benoit joined the Scotiabank Private Equity team in October 2016. Prior to joining Scotiabank, he worked at Export Development Canada where he was a Senior Associate focused on private equity funds, direct middle market leveraged buyouts, and venture capital.
Benoit earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Ottawa and is a CFA Charterholder.
Anel joined the Scotiabank Private Equity team in February 2016. Prior to her position at Scotiabank, Anel gained experience at a non-profit organization that provided market research for projects in developing countries.
Anel earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Toronto in 2015. In order to foster her interest in finance, Anel held leadership positions and participated in various finance based clubs, the activities of which ranged from presenting macro-economic trends, to analyzing public company financial statements.
