Choose the option that suits you best
We offer a range of Registered Disability Savings Plan options, with a choice of investments that includes Cash/Savings, GICs and Mutual Funds.
If you're looking for a safe option or a short-term parking spot until you make your long-term investment decision, you can put your RDSP contribution in the cash portion of your investment account.
Note: If the Dealer of your Scotia® RDSP is The Bank of Nova Scotia, Canadian currency funds in the cash portion of your account are eligible to be insured by the Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation.
If the Dealer of your Scotia RDSP is Scotia Securities Inc.(SSI), Canadian currency funds in the cash portion of your account are held in trust by SSI. SSI accounts, except accounts held by residents of Quebec, are eligible for protection by the Mutual Fund Dealers Association of Canada Investor Protection Corporation. The cash in an SSI account is not eligible for deposit insurance offered through the Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation.
With a GIC, your principal investment is safe and the rate of return is guaranteed for the term of the investment, so you don't need to worry about how market fluctuations might affect your investment.
Consider these GIC products for your investment portfolio:
These special one-year GICs can be cashed any time after 30 days and with full interest. Get the benefits and flexibility of not being locked in.
These GICs generally yield a higher return because your funds are locked-in until maturity. They're available in a variety of terms, in Canadian dollars only.
If you're interested in pursuing a more diversified investment strategy, check out our wide range of RDSP eligible mutual funds.
Whether you're interested in a more conservative, short-term approach or a more aggressive longer-term growth strategy, we'll help you develop the portfolio that works best for you.
