Scott McLeod is a curator of contemporary art specializing in photography, media and digital art. Since 2000, he has been the director and curator of Prefix Institute of Contemporary Art, where he also serves as the editor and publisher of Prefix Photo magazine, the editor of the book series Critical Perspectives in Contemporary Art, and the coprogrammer (with Janine Marchessault) of the Urban Field Speakers Series. In the past fifteen years, he has curated more than fifty-five exhibitions and authored more than forty catalogue essays and other texts for national and international publishers. His recent curatorial projects include Willie Doherty’s Passages, Pascal Grandmaison’s Half of the Darkness and Susan Hiller’s The Last Silent Movie, as well as Rogue Waves, an extensive series of Canadian and international audio art. His recent publications include Rosario Lopez: An Atlas, published by Galeria Casas Reigner and the Universidad Nacional de Colombia; Myriam Yates, published by the Foreman Art Gallery at Bishop’s University; and “Exhibit P: Photography and Media Art from the Prairies” in Prefix Photo magazine. His upcoming curatorial projects include solo exhibitions by Shona Illingworth, Steve Payne and Sylvia Safdie. He has also lectured and participated in panel discussions at numerous venues, including the National Gallery of Canada, the Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery and the Winnipeg Art Gallery, and he has served as a juror and nominator for numerous grants and awards, including the National Magazine Awards, the OAAG Awards, and the Prix Pictet.
