Midnight Sun Marathon – Tromsø, Norway
Travel to one of the world’s most northern marathons, above the Arctic Circle in the city of Tromsø, Norway. Popular with runners from around the world, the nighttime marathon takes place when the city has 24 hours of sunlight. Whether you want to run the full marathon or take part in the shorter 4.2 kilometre Coop Mini Marathon, there are amazing views to take in along the way.
Scotiabank Blue Nose Marathon – Halifax, Canada
On Canada’s beautiful east coast, this marathon takes runners through some of the top tourist spots of Halifax, including Citadel Hill and Point Pleasant Park, as well as through the streets of nearby city of Dartmouth. The city is known for its amazing seafood so you will have some delicious food options to reward yourself with after your race. Your run can support local charities through the Scotiabank Charity Challenge. This marathon is also a qualifying event for Boston if you are planning to take on that great race.
Australian Outback Marathon – Central Australia
Run through the heart of the Australian outback on this adventurous marathon. Though a mostly flat course, the soft-sand and red earth trails make it a challenge. You will see some unforgettable views of Uluru and Kata Tjuta, large sandstone rock formations that are major landmarks inside Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. For runners looking for a slightly easier option, there are also 11 km and 6 km races.
The Boston Marathon – Massachusetts, United States of America
If you’re a runner, the Boston Marathon is probably already on your bucket list. This iconic marathon has a long history, reaching its 122nd year in 2018. The spring marathon is an excellent time to check out the city, take in a game at Fenway Park, go whale watching and eat the best lobster rolls.
Safaricom Marathon – Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, Kenya

Taking place on the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, this is an incredibly challenging race, from the heat to the hilly course. The marathon is a popular fundraiser for the wildlife reserve, where you will be running through the home of over 180 giraffe, 1100 zebra, 25 lions and 130 rhinos.
