Independence Promotion Terms and Conditions
1.0 Definitions
The following definitions apply to these Terms and Conditions:
“Contest” refers to this Credit Card Campaign contest and not any other of Scotiabank or its affiliates’
Contests, Programs, Sweepstakes or Campaigns.
“Eligible” refers to any individual qualified to participate in this Contest
“Eligible transaction” refers to transactions considered in the earning of ballots and are limited to
purchases minus returns/credits, and will not include cash advances, balance transfers, credit card
cheques, and any fees and/or finance charges.
“Cardholder” means the credit card holder of Eligible Scotiabank credit cards
“Promotion”refers to this promotion and not any of the Bank’s other promotions or programs
“Promotional Period”means from November 1st, 2013 to November 30, 2013 inclusive.
“Scotiabank”and “The Bank”means Scotiabank Barbados.
2.0 How to participate
Existing Scotiabank Cardholders will earn one (1) entry ballot once they spend BBD$150 using an eligible Scotiabank Credit Card within the promotional period.
3.0 Eligibility
3.1 Eligible Scotiabank credit cards: Scotiabank MasterCard®, Scotiabank Gold MasterCard®, Scotiabank MAGNA MasterCard®, Scotiabank PriceSmart®Diamond MasterCard®, Scotiabank AERO* Platinum MasterCard®, Scotiabank / AAdvantage®MasterCard®.
3.2 This promotion is open to legal residents of Barbados, 18 years of age or older, who hold an eligible Scotiabank credit card, with the exception of employees of The Bank, its respective parent companies (The Bank of Nova Scotia and Bank of Nova Scotia Group) and subsidiaries; their immediate family members (spouses, parents, children, siblings and their respective spouses) and/or those living in the same household of any of these employees. Employees of The Bank’s advertising and promotional agencies, as well as their immediate family members, relatives and/or those living in the same households are also not eligible to enter. Eligibility is restricted to Scotiabank Cardholders whose account is in good standing and has not been blocked, frozen, stolen or fraudulently obtained, mislaid, lost or written-off, or delinquent during the Promotional Period or within the past twelve (12) months.
3.3 Eligible transactions are limited to purchases minus returns/credits, and will not include cash advances, balance transfers, credit card cheques, and any fees and/or finance charges.
4.0 Draw Details
4.1 Winners will be selected by an automated random draw, completed by Scotiabank
4.2 Earned ballots will be entered into a single draw for one of six (6) prizes as follows: Five (5) cash prizes of BBD$470 One (1) grand prize of a two night Staycation at the Crane Resortsto be taken between May 1st to November 15th, 2014 with $750 spending money.
4.3 Any individual Scotiabank credit card account cannot be the recipient of more than one prize.
4.4 After selection of a winner, notification and acceptance of the prize, the winning customers will receive their prize in the form of a credit against the balance of the selected Scotiabank credit card account. This prize will appear as a single credit no later than 60 days.
5.0 Consumer Disclosure / Notification of winners
5.1 The winner will be notified by telephone within five (5) days from the date of the draw. The winner will be required to provide proof of their age and sign an Affidavit of Eligibility/Prize Acceptance and Release within five (5) days of the notification to be confirmed as a winner. If the winner declines to fulfill these conditions to collect the prize, their eligibility will be voided and another winner will be drawn from the pool of eligible entries.
5.2 Contact will be attempted using the Cardholder’s phone number found in The Bank’s records. If the winner cannot be contacted by telephone within five (5) days of the draw date The Bank has the right to draw an alternate name.
5.3 The winners’ name may be published in the media. The winner must agree to the use of his or her name and photographs without compensation in any forthcoming publicity by Scotiabank.
5.4 The winner will be responsible for any taxes, tips, insurance and expenses not explicitly stated as part of their prize.
5.5 The use of your eligible Scotiabank credit card account to make an eligible transaction constitutes your consent to participate in this Promotion and your consent for The Bank to obtain your name, address and other information for the lawful purpose of administering this Promotion and for other uses as permitted by applicable law. Scotiabank reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to void any and all entries of an entrant who Scotiabank believes has attempted to tamper with or impair the administration, security, fairness or proper play of this contest.
5.6 To be confirmed as the winner, the Cardholder will be required to provide proof of ownership of the Scotiabank MasterCard® credit card account that was used to win the prize.
6.0 Official rules and regulations
6.1 This Promotion will run from November 1st, 2013 to November 30th, 2013 inclusive.
6.2 All eligible transactions will count towards the total cumulative purchase amount; there are no limits on the number of entries. All transactions in local and USD currency are eligible.
6.3 Service charges, annual membership fees, interest charges and account credit/adjustment transactions are not eligible transactions.
6.4 Prizes are not transferable and are subject to change at the sole discretion of The Bank. Prizes must be accepted as awarded. The Bank will not be responsible for changes to the prizes which result from circumstances outside of their control. Scotiabank will issue no representation or warranty in respect of the prize.
6.5 Transactions from unauthorized card use or those made with lost, stolen or fraudulent Scotiabank cards will be considered void in the matter of this draw.
By reading this document, the Cardholder is deemed to have accepted all of the applicable terms and conditions. American Airlines reserves the right to change the AAdvantage® program and its terms and conditions at any time without notice, and to end the AAdvantage® program with six months notice. Any such changes may affect your ability to use the awards or mileage credits that you have accumulated. Unless specified, AAdvantage® miles earned through this promotion/offer do not count toward elite-status qualification or Million MilerSM status.
