Support Attracting More Support

The 2007 launch ceremony of Kiddy Cricket in the British Virgin Islands clearly illustrates how support inevitably leads to more support. On this exciting day, 60 students eagerly accepted full sets of Kiddy Cricket equipment and accessories to take back to the eight schools that they represented.

Speaking on behalf of British Virgin Islands Cricket Association (BVICA), its Head Coach used the opportunity to announce their plans to promote and coach cricket in all primary schools in the country  both private and public  as an after-school initiative. Even the Minister of Education responsible for Sport had something to add: his Governments commitment to explore options for building a new cricket ground within the British Virgin Islands.

Scotiabank also plans to take its sponsorship to new levels in 2008 by launching the Clarence Goes to School program. Clarence is the name given to a cricketing cartoon crab character used by the WICB to promote the marketing and development of the program.

We are especially proud to sponsor Kiddy Cricket, not only because it exemplifies our commitment to education, but because it preserves a heritage that has been so essential to the building of culture in the West Indies. By passing the traditions of cricket along to our youth, we hope to encourage them to become more disciplined and confident -- traits they will be able to draw from later in life.
