The Story Behind Scotiabank St.Lucia

Scotiabank is proud to maintain its branch operations in St.Lucia, where it has operated for more than 40 years.

Scotiabank opened its first St. Lucian branch in the capital city of Castries in the North of the island in 1964. Retail banking expanded with the addition of Vieux-Fort branch in the south, and an additional in the city, including one more in the extreme north of the island Gros Islet. Activity in the branches in St.Lucia reflected the economic growth of the country, with agriculture being the main industry, increasingly moving towards the tourist industry.

With the four branches strategically placed throughout the country, Scotiabank continues to offer a complete range of retail, commercial banking, including electronic cash management. The Bank has about 130 employees, plus 11 ATMs.

The bank is now developing a small business unit to deal with the small to medium businesses, specifically selfemployed persons. This unit is presently managed by the Personal Banking Manager with one employee as backup.

Scotiabank is a strong supporter of various community initiatives, Scotiabank St.Lucia’ contributions range from sports causes, to education and arts and culture, mainly geared towards children, the non-profit organizations and the aged.
