Scotiabank is proud to maintain branch operations in Cayman Islands, where it has operated for more than 37 years.
While Scotiabank didn’t open a branch in Cayman until 1968, it has been serving Cayman customers since the 1950s. Bank officers from Jamaica traveled to Cayman by boat, and then rented bicycles to call on clients.
In 1968 Scotiabank opened its first branch in George Town. Retail banking expanded in early 1990 with the addition of a sub branch in the Airport Industrial Park. Activity in the branches in Cayman Islands reflected the economic growth of the country and was heavily centered on the tourist industry. Business continued to grow during the 1990’s and by 1997 three branches had been established.
In 2003 the banking and trust divisions merged to form Scotiabank & Trust (Cayman) Ltd., In 2005, Scotiabank introduced Internet Banking in Cayman. Today, with over 100 employees, five ATMs and three branches on Grand Cayman, Scotiabank & Trust offers customers a complete range of retail, commercial and trust services, including electronic cash management ad offshore banking services.
