The Story Behind Scotiabank St.Kitts

Scotiabank is proud to maintain its branch operations in St.Kitts-Nevis, where it has operated for 25 years.

Scotiabank opened its first branch in the capital of Basseterre in 1982. Retail banking expanded with the addition of the Bird Rock Branch in the east. Prior to this a Branch was opened on the sister island of Nevis in the capital of Charlestown, in 1985. Activity in the branches on St.Kitts reflected the economic growth of the country, with agriculture being the main industry, increasingly moving towards the tourist industry.

With the three branches placed throughout the twin island state, Scotiabank continues to offer a complete range of retail, commercial banking, including electronic cash management. The Bank has about 78 employees, plus 6 ATMs.

The bank is now developing a small business unit to deal with the small to medium businesses, specifically unemployed persons. This unit is presently managed by the Personal Banking Manager with one employee as backup.

Scotiabank is a strong supporter of various community initiatives, Scotiabank St.Kitts’ contributions range from sports causes, to education and arts and culture, mainly geared towards children, the non-profit organizations and the aged.
