Scotiabankers walk to "Save our Children, Save our Future"
Scotiabank earned the award for the largest Corporate Team when more than 500 Scotiabankers turned ran and walked in support of the Sigma Corporate Run fundraiser held Sunday, February 16. The event generated $21.7M in donations for the Tropical Medicine Research Institute/Sickle Cell Unit at the University of the West Indies and the Sickle Cell Trust in Mandeville, The Special Care Nursery at the University Hospital of the West Indies, and Jamaica Kidney Kids Foundation.
The ScotiaFoundation celebrated ScotiaScholars
The ScotiaFoundation celebrated ScotiaScholars in the annual Scholars get together and personal development programme on January 4 at the Scotiabank Corporate Learning Centre. Scotiabank annually rewards scholarships to the top performing Girl and Boy in the island; as well as top performers in each of the three counties; and the top performers of 15 innercity and rural schools across the island. There are more than 200 ScotiaScholars and alumni.
JCF support for Give Good Jamaica food drive
The Scotiabank Salvation Army Give Good Jamaica Grocery Drive which ended in December was supported by members of the Jamaica Police Force High Command who collected from colleagues, two boxes of grocery items which will be donated by the Salvation Army to needy persons. Assistant Superintendent of Police Stacy-Ann Creary and Deputy Superintendentt Steven Moodie from the Police Control Centre presented the items to Michael Lee, manager of Scotiabank Ligunea branch.
History in the making - New Table Tennis team formed
Scotiabank's newly formed table tennis team participated for the first time on Sunday, December 14 in the Business House Table Tennis rally. The team received the Best Dressed Team trophy.

Scotiabank Gives to Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Appeal
The annual Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Appeal was launched Friday, November 8 at the Scotia Centre, downtown Kingston with the aim of raising money to assist needy families. Scotiabank's contribution to the Salvation Army this season is $1.3M. One million dollars to the Salvation Army Eastern Division Kettle Appeal and $300,000 to the Salvation Army Western Division Kettle Appeal.
ScotiaVolunteers Donate 103 Boxes of Grocery to Salvation Army Grocery Drive
Scotiabank launched the Give Good Jamaica Grocery Drive on Friday, November 8 and are encouraging donations of dried food items to the Salvation Army. Food items are essential as they are used to create care packages and assist with the Salvation Army's social programme. Throughout December, barrels will be placed in a number of supermarkets across the island including Michi, Empire Supermarket in Ligunea, and Losushan in Barbican. To get the ball rolling, ScotiaVolunteers donated more than 130 boxes of groceries.
Scotiabank staff raise $206,000 for Pink Day
Scotiabank staff sold pins valued at $206,000 in support of the Jamaica Cancer Society's breast cancer awareness programme Pink Day which was on October 4. Pink Day is meant to raise funds for public awareness programme as well as raise awareness of breast cancer. Wayne Henry, Vice President Government Affairs, and supporter of Pink Day, presents the cheque to Yulit Gordon, Executive Director of the Jamaica Cancer Society. ScotiaSingers maintain vegetable garden for Children's Home
Jacqueline Sharp, President and CEO of Scotiabank worked with the team of volunteers from the ScotiaSingers on October 5 to plant hundreds of pakchoi and callaloo seedlings at a Kingston based children's home. The ScotiaSingers have been maintaining the vegetable gardens since March of this this year as a way of helping the home cut food costs while providing healthy meal options for the wards.
Scotiabankers support National Tree Planting Day
On Friday, October 4, 2013 Scotiabankers across the island planted trees in communities and schools to mark National Tree Planting Day. The Scotia Green team, led by Director Corporate Social Responsibility - Joylene Griffiths Irving participated in the Forestry Department's tree-planting project at 'Breezy Castle', Downtown Kingston. Scotiabankers have committed to planting more than 1000 trees in support of the Forestry's Department's goal of 75,000 trees this year.
International Coastal Cleanup Day - Halfmoon Bay Beach, St. Catherine, Jamaica
Within three hours of working, more than 3000 lbs of garbage had been collected by volunteers International Coastal Cleanup activities at the Half Moon Bay beach in St. Catherine on Saturday, September 21, 2013. The final day's tally will be announced later on this year. Leading the large team of ScotiaVolunteers was Jacqueline Sharp president and CEO who commended the National Environment and Planning Agency and the Urban Development Corporation for co-ordinating the cleanup activities at that site. Other groups and agencies were at more than 90 different sites across the island.
Eight children to benefit from Scotiabank's Scoliosis Care Programme
The Eight beneficiaries of this year's Scotiabank's Scoliosis Care Programme pose with representatives of the ScotiaFoundation and the Kingston Public Hospital. Since 2006, the Foundation has helped transform the lives of some 40 children via contributions of $17.9M.
