Shaggy Make a Difference Foundation
During the Christmas season in 2008, Scotiabank partnered with the Shaggy Make a Difference Foundation to raise money to buy equipment for the Bustamante Hospital for Children. Scotiabank employees were present in every step of the process, offering help with not only the business side in marketing and planning the event, but also as volunteers for the concert. They acted as hosts, stage coordinators, helped in parking at entry to the event.
JMD $20 million was raised through the event and used to purchase an Ears Nose and Throat Microscope, Vital Signs Monitors, Volumetric Pumps, four Stretchers and a Blood Warmer. This equipment is essential technology for the hospital and will allow them as the only English speaking pediatric hospital in the Caribbean to do safer surgeries.
In addition to raising money for the foundation, Scotiabank employees prepared and wrapped many gifts to give to children in the Bustamante Hospital for Children. This act of generosity brought a lot of happiness to the children in the hospital.
