For 11 years now Scotiabank has been playing an important role in helping to promote and develop the sport that unites the Caribbean. Kiddy Cricket
- The Scotiabank sponsored Kiddy Cricket program was introduced to Jamaica in 2000. It is part of Scotiabanks investment in the youth of the Caribbean.
- The program aims to help primary school children gain and maintain an appreciation for cricket, the game that is deeply rooted in their West Indian heritage. In addition, it helps children develop positive values and good sportsmanship, and enhances the appeal of their education.
- The Scotiabank Kiddy Cricket program provides equipment and training for teachers to coach the basics of the game. Through Scotiabank Kiddy Cricket, children not only acquire an interest and passion for playing cricket, they also develop interpersonal skills, self-confidence, and self-disciplinequalities that benefit them for a lifetime
As of 2007 in Jamaica:
- Scotiabank has provided training and material to over 54,480 children.
- With the assistance of WICB and the local cricket boards, Scotiabank has distributed over 310 Clarence goes to School teaching manuals and over 505 Scotiabank Kiddy Cricket kits to over 736 schools.
- Over 320 teachers and coaches have been trained in the program
