The Scotiabank Giller Prize welcomes Michelle Kadarusman into the fold

February 27, 2013 (Toronto, Ontario) Jack Rabinovitch, founder of the Scotiabank Giller Prize, is pleased to announce the appointment of Michelle Kadarusman as Executive Assistant to the prize. Kadarusman will be responsible for literary submissions and social media platforms while continuing to assist the prize with jury liaison, public relations and special events. She will report directly to Scotiabank Giller Prize Executive Director, Elana Rabinovitch.

Originally from Australia, Kadarusman has lived in Toronto since 2000. In 2006 she combined her love of literature with her training in early childhood education by founding the literacy initiative, Raising Readers. The enterprise aims to inspire a life-long love of reading by engaging children with literature through art, writing and drama. The Raising Readers programs are currently offered within the Toronto District School Board.

Kadarusman also writes for children and is a contributor to Chirp and chickaDEE magazines for Owl Kids. She is presently working on her first book for reluctant teen readers.
