Why do I have to protect my PIN?
Your Scotia VISA Debit Card, PIN is the key to your account(s). Even if criminals get access to your card, they need the PIN to access your money – so remember to protect your PIN.
How do I protect my PIN?
- Select a unique PIN for each of your banking cards (Scotia VISA Debit Card and credit cards)
- Select 4 unique digits (numbers, letters or a combination) that you can remember; DO NOT select your birth date, telephone number, licence plate, address or other easy-to-guess combinations
- Memorize your PIN; DO NOT write it down or tell anyone what it is
- Be sure to keep your Scotia VISA Debit Card in sight at all times during a transaction and NEVER lend it to anyone
- Remember to shield the keypad when entering your PIN at an ATM
- Check your statements regularly to verify that all transactions have been properly documented and contact the bank with any discrepancies
- Report a lost or stolen card immediately
- Contact us immediately if you suspect your Scotia VISA Debit Card and/or PIN has been compromised
