Books And Toys For Little Patients

On September 7th, 2007, The Bank of Nova Scotia, Dominica made a presentation of XCD$50,000 to the Disaster Preparedness Unit and XCD$17,500 to the Dominica Red Cross.

This was part of the banks contribution toward alleviating the plight of citizens who have been adversely affected as a result of the recent passing of Hurricane Dean.

Scotiabank announced three weeks ago that it has contributed US$500,000 towards relief efforts in the Caribbean and Latin America, with the majority of the funds being forwarded to the countries hardest hit. During the recent, the Prime Minister Hon. Roosevelt Skerrit praised Scotiabank for this tremendous gesture, which he says, will assist in the rehabilitation efforts after the passing of Hurricane Dean. In attendance, to receive the donations were Disaster Preparedness Coordinator, Mr Cecil Shillingford and Mrs Kathleen Pinard-Byrne of the Dominica Red Cross.
