Commiting Your Plan to Writing

Now that you've identified your goals, understand where your money goes, and know the easier ways to save and make your money work for you, it's time to write it all down.

This makes it real, so that you can maintain your bearings by having a single roadmap to turn to - to help you remain focused and on track.

We recommend that you record:

  • Your top five financial goals.

  • The specific, measurable activities that can help get you there (i.e. reduce daily discretionary spending by $5/week or pay bill online to reduce fees).

  • What actions you will take right now (in the next 48 hours) towards these goals.

  • Who you will share your goals with for support and advice.

  • Your target dates.

Continue to work toward your goals and remain confident in the fundamentals of your plan - without becoming distracted from your long-term goals by the inevitable ups and downs you may experience.

Our ican InvestĀ® Program is designed to make it easy for you to take the necessary actions in your plan with confidence, and to monitor your efforts as you progress over the long term.

Here's how to put your financial information to work:

  • Come into your nearest Scotiabank branch and talk to an advisor about tailoring a plan that's right for you.
  • OR call 1-800-4SCOTIA (1-800-472-6842).
