What’s the work environment and management like?

The branch has such a friendly atmosphere, and a real feeling of teamwork. And our branch manager’s open door policy is extended not just to staff, but also to customers. I believe that’s key to Scotiabank’s success.

What does a typical day involve?

Each day is different, which keeps things interesting. It might include marketing and generating new business, or maintaining relationships with existing customers by providing financial advice, portfolio management – or doing credit checks and risk management. Meeting our customers’ individual needs really determines what my day will be like.

What’s the most challenging part of the job?

The most challenging part of my job is meeting sales and marketing targets - but not because it’s so difficult. It’s because that’s when all of my skills and brainpower come into play, and I’m totally energized by that!

How are achievements recognized?

Performance is recognized at Scotiabank in many ways. Formal quarterly and annual appraisals, plus customer service awards and recognition programs. Our achievements are acknowledged by management - and shared with our peers. That makes it worthwhile in so many ways.
