Rules and Regulations

  1. To be entered automatically, you must register for “MyVault News” or “MyVault Business News” digital newsletter email service by going online and registering at www.scotiabank.com/winmoney OR if you are an existing Scotiabank customer, you may also elect to register for ”MyVault News” or “MyVault Business News” service at www.scotiabank.com/winmoney OR by simply submitting your email address through Scotia Online Financial Services OR by applying to your Scotiabank representative in order to subscribe to “MyVault News” or “MyVault Business News”. You must also be a subscriber to “My Vault News” or “MyVault Business News” at the time and date of any monthly draw. Contests commence at 12:01 a.m. EST or EDT, as the case may be, on January 1, February 1, March 1, April 1, May 1, June 1, July 1, August 1, September 1, October 1, November 1 and December 1, 2008 and, to be eligible, entries must be received by 11:59 p.m. EST or EDT, as the case may be, on January 31, February 29, March 31, April 30, May 31, June 30, July 31, August 31, September 30, October 31, November 30 or December 31, 2008, the contest closing dates (‘’the contest period”). No purchase necessary.
  2. There will be twelve (12) prizes awarded. Each prize consists of $1000.00 CAD to be awarded for each month during the contest period. To be eligible for any monthly prize you must be a subscriber to “MyVault News” or “MyVault Business News” at the monthly contest closing date. Entries will be carried over from one monthly contest period to the next. Only one prize will be awarded to any entrant throughout the entire contest period. The number of prizes available to be won will be reduced as a monthly prize is claimed throughout the contest. Only one entry per person allowed throughout the entire contest. Prizes must be accepted as awarded and are not transferable.
  3. Random selections will be made in Saint John, N.B. on February 27, March 27, April 28 May 27 June 26 July 28 August 28 September, 29 October 27 November 27, December 30, 2008 and January 29, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. AST or ADT, as the case may be, from among all eligible entries received on or before each monthly contest closing date. Before being declared a winner, a selected entrant must first correctly answer, unaided, a time-limited, arithmetical, skill-testing question to be administered by telephone at a mutually convenient time. Each selected entrant will be deemed to be the individual who is attached to the email address subscribing to the “MyVault News” or “MyVault Business News”. If the selected entrant cannot be reached in a timely fashion or if, for any reason, the prize cannot be awarded, another monthly contest entry will be randomly selected, and so on, until the prize has been awarded. The odds of being selected will depend upon the total number of eligible entries at the time of each monthly contest closing date.
  4. To enter and be eligible to win, a person must be a resident of Canada who has reached the age of majority in their province or territory of residence on or before the start of each monthly contest period. Employees, representatives or agents of Scotiabank, its subsidiaries, affiliates, advertising and promotional agencies, the independent contest organization, members of their immediate families and anyone with whom they are domiciled are not eligible to enter. All entries become the property of Scotiabank who assumes no responsibility for lost, delayed, destroyed or misdirected entries or for any software malfunctions of any kind or unavailable network, failed or incorrect communications caused by the sender or the equipment or programming. By entering, contestants agree to abide by the contest rules and the decisions of the independent contest organization, which are final. By entering, winners agree to authorize Scotiabank to announce and publish their name, address (city only), photograph and/or image on videotape in any forthcoming publicity, without remuneration. Prize winners will be required to sign standard release documents.
  5. Any litigation respecting the conduct or organization of this publicity contest may be submitted to the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux for a ruling. Any litigation respecting the awarding of a prize may be submitted to the Régie only for the purpose of helping the parties reach a settlement. Contest is subject to all applicable Federal, Provincial and Municipal laws.
  6. If for any reason, the contest is not capable of running as planned, including corruption, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud or any other cause beyond the control of Scotiabank and which in the opinion of Scotiabank affects the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this contest Scotiabank reserves the right to withdraw, terminate or modify all or any part of this contest by publishing a notice at the participating branches.
  7. Privacy Policy: Scotiabank will use the contact information provided in contest entries for administration of this contest. Scotiabank may retain and use this information for future marketing of its products and services to you and by entering, you specifically consent to such use. If you do not wish your information to be used for this purpose, just let us know by emailing us at enews@scotiabank.com
