Robert H. Pitfield

Group Head, International Banking

Robert H. PitfieldRob Pitfield is Group Head, International Banking, responsible for all of the Bank's retail and commercial operations outside of Canada.

Rob joined the Commercial Banking operations of Scotiabank in 1983. Over the years, he has worked in various positions in Commercial and Retail Banking. In 1990, he was promoted to Senior Vice-President, Card Products and Marketing, and the following year, he also took on responsibility for Retail Marketing.

In 1996, Rob was appointed Senior Vice-President, International Banking, responsible for the Caribbean and Central America. In 1998, he returned to Retail Products and Marketing as Executive Vice-President. He was appointed Executive Vice-President and Group Head, Wealth Management, responsible for Scotiabank's domestic wealth management operations, in 1999. He returned to International Banking as Executive Vice-President in 2003, and received his most recent appointment in October 2008.

Rob holds directorships with several of Scotiabank's subsidiaries and affiliates. He was Chairman of the Finance Division of the United Way in 2001, and is currently a Director of the Toronto Rehabilitation Institute Foundation.

At the University of Ottawa, Rob serves as a member of the National Campaign Cabinet and the Common Law Campaign Cabinet. He is also a member of the Board of Directors for the EDGE Network on the Emerging, Dynamic Global Economies. He was inducted into the Common Law Honour Society in 2006.

Rob has a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from the University of Toronto. He earned his law degree from the University of Ottawa, and he is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada. Rob is married and has four children.
