*Here's how it works:

• Apply online or visit a Scotiabank branch near you to open a new ScotiaMcLeod Direct Investing (SMDI) account from June 22, 2009 to August 31, 2009.
• Enter "SC09" in the "How did you hear about us?" section of your account application.
• Deposit or transfer in a minimum of $15,000 from another Financial Institution and maintain this balance for a period of at least 90 consecutive days from the date you open your account.

Eligible clients will receive a full rebate on the first $500 in commissions paid on trades during the first 3 months the account is open. If the total of the commissions paid is less than $500, you will only receive a rebate for that amount. The rebate will be in the currency of the account to a maximum of $500 CDN.

Commissions will be rebated at the end of the 3rd month following account opening (e.g. account opened in August is paid in December) by crediting the SMDI account.
