Visit a Scotiabank branch in India to complete the Referral Form for New Deposit Account
- Bring your Personal Identification.
- Valid Passport (Passport Number, Country of Issue and Expiry date)
- Canadian Embassy letter (confirming approval for immigration) or Confirmation of Immigration Status in Canada (IMM5292)
- You can open 1 of the 3 listed account types, per family. Your choices are:
- Scotia Powerchequing® Account
- Scotia® U.S. Dollar Daily Interest Account
- Scotia® Euro Daily Interest Savings Account
- You can request a Scotiabank VISA credit card prior to moving to Canada. All you need to do is let your Scotiabank branch officer know you want a VISA credit card.
Send a Bank Draft or Wire Payment
As soon as your new bank account has been opened in Canada, Scotiabank will send you a Welcome Letter containing all necessary information you will need.
You can now send money to your account before moving to Canada. Please ensure:
- The funds are sent from an Scotiabank branch in India and can be submitted in Canadian Dollars, U.S. Dollars or EURO
- The funds cannot be from a third party (i.e. sender and beneficiary name on the account must match)
- Only 1 wire payment/draft for deposit is allowed prior to immigrating to Canada
Note: If any of the above conditions are not met, we will be unable to credit your account.
Activate your Account
When you arrive in Canada, visit your Scotiabank branch to activate your account. You must bring the following original documents with you:
- Valid Passport
- Confirmation of Immigration Status in Canada (IMM5292) or Permanent Resident card
