Tony is a senior executive with 20 years of experience in the financial services industry; the last ten have been in venture capital and private equity investing. As an active investor and board member, he is a key contributor to strategy, executive recruitment and compensation, auditing, corporate governance, follow-on financings, mergers and acquisitions. Previously, he was an Executive Director and later a Managing Director at the firm.
Prior to joining Scotiabank, Tony was a Director in the Information Technology Fund at Royal Bank Capital Partners, the venture capital and merchant banking division of the Royal Bank Financial Group. Prior to joining RBC Capital Partners, Tony was with the Royal Bank of Canada as a lender with positions of increasing responsibility in multinational banking, commercial lending and technology banking. Prior to joining the Royal Bank, Tony worked as an Industry Analyst with Bank of Montreal, a Consultant with Coopers & Lybrand Consulting Group and as a Business Economist with Canadian National.
Tony has a B.A. and M.A. in Economics and obtained the ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors.

Peter has eighteen years of experience in private equity, mezzanine, corporate finance and structured lending in Canada, the United States and Europe. He has served on a number of corporate boards of private and public companies and advisory committees of investment funds.
Prior to joining Scotiabank, Peter was with Manulife Capital, where he focused on private equity and mezzanine investments in North America; and with Royal Bank Capital Partners, where he focused on mergers, acquisitions, management buyouts, and growth financing of Canadian mid-market companies across a wide range of industries. Previously, he was with the Multinational Lending Group at Royal Bank of Canada working on complex corporate transactions. Peter's structured finance experience includes a number of global financing, infrastructure projects and public-private-partnerships.
Peter was born in the Czech Republic, where he earned a law degree from the University of JEP in Brno. He also earned an MBA from the University of New Brunswick.

Jonathan has a broad range of experience in venture capital, private equity, debt restructuring and complex analytics. Jonathan joined Scotiabank Private Equity in 2000, and has progressed from roles as Manager and Analyst.
Previously, he held a senior analyst and project manager role with Hydro One and the Ontario Financing Authority, respectively. Jonathan has also worked as an analyst with Spar Aerospace and Coca-Cola Beverages, and has freelanced as a consultant on business and tax issues.
Jonathan earned a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours), majoring in Finance, and an MBA from McMaster University. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and is a member of the Toronto CFA Society.

Darren brings venture capital, operational and investment banking expertise to the team. Most recently Darren headed up the technology practice for a boutique investment bank focused on mergers, acquisitions, management buy-outs and go public strategies for rapidly growing companies.
Prior to investment banking, Darren worked in senior operating roles for three technology companies. Darren also worked at Royal Bank Capital Partners’ IT Fund and at MM Venture Partners.
Darren holds a B.A. from Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand and an MBA from the Schulich School of Business, and is a Certified Management Accountant.

Thomas joined Scotiabank Private Equity in 2006. Previously, he was at Roynat Capital Inc. where he focused on sub-debt/mezzanine investments in growing mid-market companies across Ontario.
Prior to Roynat, Thomas worked at a Canadian based Merchant Bank as an Investment Analyst preparing company and industry analysis, developing financial models and assisting in due diligence on investee companies. Thomas has also worked at a Toronto based Corporate Finance boutique.
Thomas was born in Toronto, where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the Schulich School of Business at York University. He is currently a level two candidate in the Chartered Financial Analyst Program.

Jane joined Scotiabank Private Equity in 2007. Most recently she was at Scotia Merchant Capital Corporation, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Bank providing equity and mezzanine financing to North American companies. Jane started her career at Scotiabank with McLeod Young Weir, and later moved to the Investment Banking Group at Scotia Capital.

Victor joined Scotiabank Private Equity in 2007. Previously, he was in Scotiabank’s International Division where he gained experience in international banking and mergers and acquisitions. Prior to Scotiabank, Victor worked as a commercial banker in Peru. Victor was born in Arequipa, Peru where he earned a Business Administration degree from the Catholic University of Saint Mary. He also holds an International MBA from the Schulich School of Business.

Mamta joined Scotiabank Private Equity in 2006. Previously she spent four years with the Scotiabank Human Resources Leadership Group. Mamta worked with Scotiabank in New Delhi, India before she moved to Toronto in 2001 and joined Scotia Capital Corporate Banking.
Mamta was born in New Delhi, India where she received her Bachelor of Arts Degree. She also completed post graduate diplomas in Computer Applications and Office Administration.
