Résumé Help

Write a Powerful Résumé

Search for a Job Now
Whether you're mailing in your résumé or submitting it online, make sure you do yourself justice by demonstrating how your previous experience, skills, specific accomplishments, special training and/or course certifications relate to banking and the financial services sector.

The following tips will help you create the kind of résumé that gets noticed.

Summarize Your Key Qualifications
Within the top half of the first page of your résumé, summarize your key strengths and qualifications. This is the portion of your résumé that we turn to for a quick sense of who you are as well as your areas of expertise, so make your summary clear, concise and compelling. You want us to keep reading, after all.

Be sure to also highlight your specific skills and include any licenses or special accreditations you have achieved.

Emphasize Your Accomplishments
In the next section, describe your professional experience in detail. In one or two paragraphs, describe the basic responsibilities you undertook in each position. For greater impact, include a list of your accomplishments, preferably ones that are quantifiable. For example:

  • Increased sales over 24-month period by 33%
  • Offered technical support to network of 200 programmers across five different business lines

Summarize Your Education and Training
Either summarize your educational background as it relates to your objective, or present it in reverse chronological order. Be sure to list your highest levels of education in university and college, as well as any additional courses or training you have undertaken through work or on your own initiative.

Show and Tell
Finally, tell us about any memberships in professional and community organizations, volunteer work or awards that demonstrate additional leadership skills. We're always looking for smart, enthusiastic players so don't hold back; show us what you've got.
