Geoffrey John Hunter
Born in Fort William, Ontario in 1912, Geoffrey Hunter began his career as a Junior with the Bank in 1928 in his hometown. In May 1942, Hunter resigned to join the Algonquin Regiment of the Canadian Army. On September 14, 1944 Lieutenant Hunter was reported missing and later declared killed in action.

David Arthur Young Merrick Jr
D.A.Y. Merrick Jr. was born in 1912 in North Vancouver, British Columbia. He began his banking career at the 12th and Granville Avenue Bank of Nova Scotia branch in Vancouver. A member of the 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion, Merrick began his military duty on July 25, 1942. Two years later in 1944, Merrick was declared missing in France and reported as a prisoner of war several days later. Just under a year later, Merrick was liberated. In November 1945 he returned to Canada and resumed his career at the Bank in Kitchener, Ontario.

Jack Elmer Hatfield
Born in 1895 in Tusket, Nova Scotia, Jack Hatfield's career with the Bank of Nova Scotia began at Yarmouth, in 1929. In 1939, Hatfield left the service of the Bank and joined the Royal Air Force as a Pilot Officer. One year later, Hatfield was listed as missing, shortly after as killed in action. His riveting story is recounted in the newspaper article of June 14, 1940.
