Buying or selling stocks is straightforward. The Trading tab and the Action drop down menus take you right to Equity Order Entry. Here's an example of how to place an order to buy 100 shares of the Bank of Nova Scotia on the Toronto Stock Exchange. Real-time quotes are available while you place your order.
You start by entering the trading symbol for the Bank of Nova Scotia (BNS), choosing the market, selecting 'buy' and entering the number of shares.
Then you can specify a price (limit order) or do a market order. You can make your order valid for the current trading session only (Day Order) or specify a period of time, e.g. 5 days. You can also specify how you would pay for this stock, drawing from a number of account and settlement options.

To complete your order, you would enter your personal Access Code (12345) and click on Confirm Order. Your personal access code is an optional security feature which can be set up or removed anytime.
A Reference Number will confirm receipt of your instructions.
