Program Start: February 2023 or August 2023

Program Length: 12-18 months

Overview

Impact is Scotiabank’s Global Capital Markets (GCM) Rotational Program, which is a 12-to-18-month program designed for students completing an undergraduate or graduate degree. You will rotate every 12 weeks on various product desks and develop both technical and analytical skills associated with the sales, trading, and risk management functions of day-to-day market activities. Since our business is global, Analysts and Associates will have the opportunity to do a rotation at one of our international offices in New York, London, or Asia. Upon completion, you’ll be assigned to one of our Sales and Trading desks on a full-time basis.

During the program, you’ll assist the sales, trading, and structuring staff on the trading floor while also doing industry and product research. You’ll assist in preparing client presentations and daily market commentaries while performing analysis using fundamental and technical data. You’ll also be responsible for monitoring a variety of markets, economic releases, trends, and factors that affect the market.

Does this sound like you?

  • You're enrolled in your final year of an undergraduate degree or MBA/relevant master’s degree (including STEM - Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math)

What to expect

At the start of the program, you will participate in Capital Ideas: a two-week orientation designed to introduce participants of Impact to our culture, people, products, and services. You will also meet your dedicated program manager who will provide ongoing mentorship, coaching, and development and who will ensure your successful transition in and out of rotations. You will be fully equipped to complete the program and launch your career as a dynamic leader.

Through the various rotations, you will gain exposure to our unique products and services and develop a solid understanding of credit and trade floor risk. On top of that, you will come out of the program with a global mindset after completing a rotation in New York, London, or Asia where you will gain a full appreciation and understanding of the global nature of our business and clients.
