Scotiabank and our Teammates have scoured the country looking for teams who embody The 5th Season values and have done amazing work in their local community to compete in a once in lifetime challenge.
A community hockey team from each city of Calgary, Toronto and Halifax will compete in an epic series of challenges that test their ability to work together as a team to prove they have what it takes to be Heroes of Hockey Day!
Scotiabank Teammates, P.K. Subban, Cassie Campbell-Pascall, and Lanny McDonald are thrilled to be a part of this competition and will be mentors to the teams!
The winning team will get an all-expenses paid trip to go to Scotiabank's Hockey Day in Canada in Kenora, Ontario.

Calgary Jr. Inferno
The Calgary Jr. Inferno are a dynamic group of charismatic girls that have taken the notion of putting others ahead of themselves to the next level.
When two Jr. Inferno players cut off their hair to donate it to a charity that provides hair pieces to kids undergoing cancer treatment, the idea took root with five of their teammates who did the same to support the cause. It requires extraordinary empathy and selflessness for 9-year-old to cut off hair. But that’s just the kind of kids they are!
The players also support a local cancer fundraising event, Skate the Lake, which is organized by the Canadian Children’s Brain Cancer Foundation (CCBCF), an organization founded by one of the girls' former hockey coaches and his wife after their son Jordan passed away at the age of 8 in 2012.

The Burlington Eagles team stands tall for the sheer scale of the impact they have had on those on dire need of help.
Last year, in an extraordinary display of teamwork, the Eagles raised 22,000 pounds of food for underprivileged families - making them the team that raised the most food of any minor hockey team across Canada. The Eagles drop off food bags in the community; sell raffle tickets, set-up hot chocolate stands, and hold bottle drives as part of their broader fundraising activities.
The Burlington Eagles are the real deal.

The TASA Ducks have made it their personal mission to use hockey to integrate New Canadian kids into our Canadian culture and build a stronger Halifax community.
The Ducks are a team of community builders. By their own initiative when they were only 8-9 years old, they organized an event for new Canadian kids to hit the ice for their very first time. The Ducks got the skates donated and organized a party after the skate so friendships could start to take root. The Ducks team has organized the event again this year to much success!
The kids on this team also participate in other community fundraisers, including “Light The Night” for Leukemia, and one of the players uses his birthday to host a free skate for all members of the community in support of Feed Nova Scotia.
Our newest Scotiabank Teammate, P.K. Subban is ready to help lead the Burlington Eagles to victory. P.K. is a current player for the Nashville Predators as well as a 2013 Norris Trophy winner and Olympic Gold Medalist. P.K. is excited to be a mentor this season!
Cassie Campbell–Pascall has played 157 career games for Team Canada. Following her exceptional hockey career, Cassie is now a renowned broadcaster for Sportsnet and a Scotiabank Teammate! Cassie is thrilled to be the mentor for the TASA Ducks team!
Lanny McDonald perfectly embodies the 5th Season values. As a Scotiabank Teammate, Lanny knows how important hard work, leadership, and teamwork are to the game of hockey. Lanny is a Stanley Cup Champion, Hockey Hall of Fame Inductee, and all around hockey legend! He is looking forward to mentoring the Calgary Jr. Inferno to a big win!
Darcy Tucker is the host of our Heroes of Hockey Day series! Along with being a proud Scotiabank Teammate, Darcy is a former NHL player who played most of his NHL career with the Toronto Maple Leafs. He was also a player for the Montreal Canadiens, Tampa Bay Lightning and Colorado Avalanche.
