James Neate

In his current role as Executive Vice President, International Corporate and Commercial Banking, James has responsibility for the overall strategic direction of the Bank’s International Corporate and Commercial banking business line. His focus is on strategy, business development and risk management, as well as regulatory and compliance issues. He was appointed to this position on December 1, 2015.

Since joining Scotiabank in 1985, Mr. Neate has progressed through various positions in areas including retail banking, commercial banking, and wealth management. He led a specialized equipment leasing subsidiary of the Bank, as Chief Executive Officer. Most recently, James held the position of Senior Vice President, Corporate and Commercial Banking, International.

James earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Political Science at McMaster University and completed the Ivey Executive Program at the Richard Ivey School of Business, University of Western Ontario.
