Mike Henry was appointed Executive Vice President and Chief Data Officer for Scotiabank in November 2017. In this newly-created role at Scotiabank, Mike is responsible for the creation of an enterprise-wide data governance strategy for the bank and an operating model that includes regulatory, compliance, data policy, security and retention of the data managed by the bank to manage risk, improve data transparency and generate business insights.
Mike joined Scotiabank in 1996 and has held progressively senior positions in Sales Management, Marketing, Wealth Management, Distribution Strategy, and Product Development. He was, most recently, Executive Vice President of Retail Payments, Deposits and Unsecured Lending on the Canadian Banking leadership team. Mike’s broad experience across the Canadian Bank, combined with his wide-ranging understanding of data from a customer, business and regulatory perspective, provide him with a unique vantage point for this strategic role.
Mike holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Toronto and a Master of Business Administration from the Schulich School of Business.
Mike has served on a variety of Scotiabank subsidiary and other external boards, and is an active member of the community supporting a number of not for profit organizations in a board or advisory capacity. Mike is a passionate champion for gender equality, and a founder of Scotiabank’s HeForShe movement.
Mike and his wife Tracey live in the Greater Toronto Area and have three children
