With the Scotiabank StartRight Program you can:

  • Apply for a Scotiabank bank account before moving to Canada
  • Transfer up to CAD $50,000 into your new account2 so you have money in the bank for when you arrive

When you arrive in Canada, just visit your Scotiabank branch to activate your new bank account and enjoy full access to your funds.

How do I activate my account?

Once you arrive in Canada, contact the Scotiabank branch that you selected when you applied and make an appointment to activate your account. We will send you a letter that confirms your new account and branch information so you know who to contact when you land in Canada.

You will need to bring two forms of identification such as your:

  • Passport
  • Permanent Resident card
  • Citizenship and Immigration Canada Form IMM 1000, IMM 1442, IMM 5688 or IMM 5292

If you’re an international student, you must also bring proof of enrolment from your Canadian educational institution.

How long do I have to activate my account?

You have six months to activate your account from the date you applied.
