James McPhedran is Executive Vice President, Canadian Banking.
James joined Scotiabank in 1996, and was appointed to his current position in June 2015, after serving as Executive Vice President, Retail Distribution, Canadian Banking. He previously served as Senior Vice President, Ontario Region, Canadian Banking, and Managing Director and Head of Scotia Private Client Group, and has also held roles in marketing, financial and estate planning and insurance. Before joining Scotiabank, James spent 10 years with American Express.
James is a graduate of Queen’s University, and has completed both the Securities Industry Institute at the Wharton School of Business and the Senior Executive Program at the London Business School. He currently sits on the boards of Tangerine Bank, and the Toronto Region Board of Trade.
James and his wife, Sue, have two children.
